Management Accountant

We are looking for a passionate and driven newly qualified Management Accountant to join our fast-paced, rapidly growing team. This role is ideal for someone who is excited about making a meaningful impact on finance operations while delivering actionable business insights. 

As a stand-alone role, you will have the unique opportunity to shape and influence the financial processes of the business. Reporting directly to the COO, you will play a key part in driving financial strategy, gaining invaluable hands-on experience, and taking ownership of a wide range of responsibilities. You will have the ability to make an immediate impact, helping to refine systems and processes in a fast-evolving start-up environment. 

In this role, you will be responsible for producing accurate financial information, supporting strategic decision-making, and ensuring the smooth running of management accounting processes, all while contributing to the growth and success of the company. 

What You'll Be Doing: 

Management Reporting: 

  • Prepare monthly management accounts, including profit and loss, balance sheet, and cash flow statements.
  • Produce variance analysis and commentary on financial performance to inform senior management.
  • Preparation of budgets and forecasts, ensuring alignment with business objectives. 

Financial Planning and Analysis: 

  • Conduct detailed financial analysis to support business decisions and strategic planning.
  • Identify trends, risks, and opportunities through analysis of key financial data.
  • Collaborate with operational teams to track and improve financial performance. 

Accounts Payable and Receivable: 

  • Assist with processing invoices and ensuring payments are accurate and timely.
  • Manage relationships with vendors and customers to resolve payment discrepancies.
  • Support reconciliation of accounts payable and receivable balances 

Cost Control and Budget Management: 

  • Monitor budgets and provide insights into variances against actual performance.
  • Recommend cost-saving initiatives and efficiency improvements.
  • Assist in setting financial targets and tracking progress. 

Process Improvement and Compliance: 

  • Identify opportunities to streamline accounting and reporting processes, enhancing accuracy and efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations and internal policies.
  • Support audit processes by providing necessary documentation and explanations. 

Stakeholder Engagement: 

  • Work closely with department heads to provide financial insights and support decision-making.
  • Act as the main point of contact for our external finance consultancy, ensuring effective communication and collaboration. 

Key Skills and Experience Required: 

  • Newly qualified in a recognised accounting qualification (e.g., CIMA, ACCA, or ACA).
  • Strong understanding of management accounting principles and financial reporting.
  • Prior experience working for a company with physical inventory, along with knowledge of inventory management processes and their financial implications.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Xero, SAP, Oracle) and advanced MS Excel skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for collaborating with diverse teams.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines in a dynamic environment.
