The impact you will make
As a Systems Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in the design and realization of our state-of-the-art high-power laser facility in Colorado. This new facility aims to demonstrate the unique features of our laser-driven fusion concept, marking significant strides toward fusion energy generation.
Your Responsibilities:
- Requirements management and tracking at both the overall project, and subsystem level; meanwhile working with a diverse range of stakeholders
- Develop and maintain key technical specification documents, such as; system interface documents, systems block diagrams and architecture specifications.
- Drive the adherence at a facility-wide level to appropriate quality processes such as configuration and change management
- Oversee and manage the integration of diverse subsystems, ensuring coherence from conceptualization to operation.
- Produce detailed records of system configurations, testing results, and integration processes, contributing to technical reviews and presentations.
- Develop and oversee comprehensive testing plans for all implementation and integration stages to validate system performance, conducting rigorous analysis and troubleshooting as needed.
- Be actively involved in all stages of development, contributing to the project's efficient implementation.
- Support project scheduling, milestone tracking, and coordination across cross-functional teams.
- Conduct technical risk management activities and ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and best practices.
This role has occasional traveling but is based in Munich with close remote collaboration with the US team stakeholders and collaborators.
What you bring
- Completed degree in Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
- 2+ years of experience developing large, integrated, and complex systems, preferably in areas such as laser, energy, aerospace, medical, or similar fields
- Proficiency in systems engineering life cycle processes (ISO 15288), with proven experience in requirements engineering, design, implementation, commissioning and testing, within complex and detailed projects.
- Practical experience in commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting complex systems.
- General knowledge of mechanical, electrical and I&C with the ability to learn and apply new technical concepts.
- Familiarity with advanced control and automation systems used in large-scale facilities is a plus.
- Strong interpersonal and technical communication skills, with the ability to proactively engage and communicate with diverse stakeholders.
- Excellent writing and oral communication skills in English.
