The impact you will make

In this multifaceted and exciting role, you will be working as the interface between the Engineering and Experimental Physics department. Working alongside a team of Engineers to deliver high-quality Experimental setups involving complex electromechanical components and systems. 

This role is ideal for candidates with hands-on experience in developing electrical, I&C and mechatronics systems within a multidisciplinary and multinational team.

Your responsibilities

  • Interact and collaborate with our scientists to design, build and test electromechanical systems for experimental setups both in Munich and abroad 
  • Develop, test and commission SCADA systems for motion control and data acquisition  
  • Create and maintain the relevant engineering documentation 
  • Support the science team in the preparation phase and during experimental campaigns 

What you bring

  • A degree in Engineering (e.g. Electrical, Mechatronics, or related) 
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in electrical and/or mechatronics design, commissioning in scientific facilities or in the aerospace, nuclear, laser, optics industry or similar 
  • Experience with OOP (Object-Oriented Programming) in a version-controlled environment and following relevant software life cycle processes (ISO/IEC 12207:2017) 
  • Knowledge of PCB board and electrical circuit design in accordance with IEC 61191-1 and IEC 60204-1 
  • Experience with EPLAN, or similar electrical design software 
  • Excellent communication skills and a structured working style   
  • A healthy amount of flexibility, adaptability and can-do attitude   
  • Fluent in English

  • Willingness to travel and spend time at international laser laboratories 

What sets you apart

  • Experience with timeline planning, budget planning, resource allocation for fast-moving and high-value technical projects 
  • Experience with SCADA suites such as Tango and EPICS  
  • Experience with multi-axis CNC motion systems 
  • Fluent in German is a plus, but not mandatory
