Senior Director of Growth Marketing

Reports to: Chief Revenue Officer

Why Markup AI

Every day, millions of people read content checked by Markup AI. Our AI platform helps companies publish accurate, on-brand, high-quality content. You’ll join the team building the next generation of language-aware services.

How We Work (Startup Environment)

We operate in a dynamic, fast-changing startup environment. You’re comfortable with ambiguity, shifting priorities, and rapid iteration. You can prioritize effectively, manage your time, and adapt your approach as we learn and grow. You value progress over perfection, give and receive feedback openly, and enjoy building processes as much as running them. We provide support, clear goals, and space to experiment so you can do your best work.

Our Go-To-Market Approach: B2B SaaS – PLG & Sales-Assisted

We are a rapidly scaling B2B SaaS company operating with a dual-engine Go-To-Market (GTM) strategy: a high-velocity Product-Led Growth (PLG) motion for self-service customers and a targeted Sales-Assisted motion for mid-market and enterprise accounts. We are seeking a visionary, hands-on leader to own and optimize this ecosystem to accelerate our next stage of growth.

The Role: Dual-Engine Growth Owner

This is a critical senior leadership role responsible for the strategy, execution, and accountability of our entire marketing and growth funnel. You will partner closely with the Product and Sales teams to ensure seamless handoffs and a frictionless customer journey across both self-service and sales-assisted channels.

This is a hands-on leadership role — you’ll set strategy and execute alongside your team.

Core Responsibilities

  1. Product-Led Growth (PLG) & Conversion
  • Activation & Monetization: Drive conversion of free users to paid plans, optimizing self-service ARR through retention, upsell, and cross-sell initiatives.
  • PQL Strategy: Partner with Product to define and surface Product Qualified Leads (PQLs) based on user behavior and engagement for proactive sales follow-up.
  • In-Product Engagement: Lead strategies that use in-product experiences to highlight value, trigger “Aha” moments, and encourage upgrades through timely, personalized nudges.
  • Conversion Optimization: Own data-driven A/B testing across web and onboarding experiences to improve conversion rates and reduce friction.
  1. Sales-Assisted Demand Generation
  • Full-Funnel Ownership: Lead the end-to-end B2B marketing funnel from awareness to pipeline and closed revenue.
  • Lead Scoring & Qualification: Build and maintain MQL scoring models that integrate firmographic and behavioral data to prioritize sales-ready opportunities.
  • Targeted Campaigns: Develop high-intent campaigns and nurture flows to engage key segments and accelerate buying decisions.
  • Revenue Accountability: Own marketing-influenced pipeline and contribute directly to Sales-Assisted revenue goals.
  1. Strategic Marketing & Brand Leadership
  • Brand Stewardship: Champion a unified brand, voice, and positioning across all channels and customer touchpoints.
  • Category Leadership: Shape the market narrative for Content Guardian Agents, defining the category and setting standards for content strategy, targeting, and SEO integrity.
  • Analyst & Influencer Relations: Cultivate relationships with industry analysts and influential review platforms to secure favorable positioning and drive high-intent referral traffic
  • Press Relations: Leverage storytelling, strategic PR, and influencer campaigns to accelerate market visibility, and position the company as a category leader.
  • Partner Marketing Initiatives: Lead marketing efforts with technology partners and channel resellers to expand market reach, leverage ecosystems, and drive joint demand generation campaigns.
  1. Operational Leadership & Resource Management
  • Team Leadership: Develop and mentor a high-performing marketing team, fostering a culture of experimentation and results.
  • Agency & Budget Oversight: Manage agency relationships, hold partners accountable to measurable outcomes, and strategically allocate marketing budget between quantifiable ROI-driven initiatives and longer-term, less quantifiable strategic brand/growth investments.
  1. AI-Enabled Marketing Organization
  • AI Integration: Design and implement AI Teammates (custom GPTs, agents, automations) to enhance efficiency, scalability, and innovation in marketing.
  • Workflow Optimization: Leverage AI to streamline campaign execution, content creation, and lead nurturing.
  • Team Capability Building: Equip the team with AI fluency and skills to collaborate effectively with automated tools.
  • Performance Measurement: Define KPIs to evaluate AI-driven initiatives and continuously optimize strategies based on data insights.

What You’ll Bring

  • 5+ years of progressive experience in a B2B SaaS marketing leadership role.
  • Proven experience running and optimizing both PLG and Sales-Assisted/MQL-driven GTM motions.
  • Expertise in marketing attribution and accountability for Revenue (ARR/Pipeline), PQLs, and MQLs as core metrics.
  • Strong analytical abilities, with experience in data-backed decision-making, A/B testing (CRO), and LTV/CAC modeling.

Benefits Include:

  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage for you and eligible dependents
  • 401(k) retirement plan with company match
  • Paid time off, company holidays, and flexible work options
  • Paid parental leave

If you believe you belong to any of the categories of protected veterans listed below, please indicate by making the appropriate selection. As a government contractor subject to the Vietnam Era Veterans Readjustment Assistance Act (VEVRAA), we request this information in order to measure the effectiveness of the outreach and positive recruitment efforts we undertake pursuant to VEVRAA. Classification of protected categories is as follows:

A "disabled veteran" is one of the following: a veteran of the U.S. military, ground, naval or air service who is entitled to compensation (or who but for the receipt of military retired pay would be entitled to compensation) under laws administered by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs; or a person who was discharged or released from active duty because of a service-connected disability.

Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
