Purpose of role:
The role sits within Man Group’s Finance department, reporting to the Head of Financial and Regulatory Reporting. Responsibilities include: the calculation, review and monitoring of regulatory capital and liquidity requirements and regulatory returns; the review and monitoring of guarantees and commitments; supporting technical accounting assessments including new lease arrangements. The role also offers scope for involvement with financial accounting and group reporting analysis and deliverables, as required. Please note this is a 6 Month FTC.
Specific responsibilities:
- Prepare and/or review monthly regulatory capital and liquidity calculations, forecasts and regulatory returns.
- Track compliance with all prudential requirements, including regulatory filing deadlines.
- Support technical accounting assessments, including new lease arrangements, as required.
- Ensure new leases and lease modifications are implemented in Workday, reviewing monthly balance sheet reconciliations as required.
- Assist with the preparation of monthly management accounts, balance sheet reconciliations, internal reporting and accounting processes, as required.
- Liaise with Man Group’s statutory auditors, ensuring the timely delivery of information requested.
- Liaise with other teams within Finance on an ongoing basis to ensure support and delivery of information to and from them in a timely, accurate and efficient manner.
- Support other Financial Control and Reporting initiatives and ad hoc projects as required.
Technical competencies:
- Accounting: ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualification or similar. Good knowledge of financial accounting (to include IFRS).
- Experience: Experience working in a financial accounting or prudential reporting team within a large corporate required.
- Regulatory: Working knowledge of the FCA MIFIDPRU and/or other locally equivalent regulatory rulebooks, and experience of preparing or reviewing regulatory returns, would be advantageous.
- Core Competencies: A team player with a proactive and organised approach, strong verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to follow complex issues through to their conclusion.
- IT Skills: Must be computer literate with strong excel skills and have the ability to learn new systems. Experience of general ledger systems would be advantageous.
- Risk Awareness: Ability to understand financial risk and use it to influence decisions and critically appraise processes, escalating issues as appropriate.
