We are seeking an experienced professional to join our External Alpha Research Team in New York. Reporting to your line manager, you will play a key role in supporting our investment efforts, particularly in manager selection for alternative investments, with a primary focus on Credit Long-Short and Equity Long-Short strategies.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor existing investments and identify new opportunities within the scope of client portfolios. You will also strive to innovate and expand this remit thoughtfully, ensuring alignment with our clients’ interests.
• Communicate investments, portfolio decisions, and other ideas effectively to our sophisticated institutional clients.
• Actively listen and respond to client needs, including managing queries, reporting, planning, and assisting with portfolio-related matters. You will work closely with clients' investment teams, acting as an extension of their teams. Relationship management, reliability, and credibility are essential attributes.
• Operate independently when required, while maintaining accountability and high standards of execution.
• Collaborate with the broader investment team, including Investment Committee members, Investment Risk, Operational Risk, Solutions, Managed Accounts, and Sales, to execute the investment process effectively.

About the External Alpha Research Team
The External Alpha Research Team is responsible for delivering many of the investment ideas that drive client outcomes at Man. Within Man Solutions, the team’s core functions include:

•  Identifying and proposing investment opportunities, conducting thorough strategy research, and completing the necessary due diligence for external investments. The team also provides oversight and views on internal products and strategies, where requested.
• Managing and monitoring existing investments, addressing challenges, and making key decisions throughout the investment lifecycle. Issues are escalated promptly when necessary.
• Working closely with the broader investment team to ensure a seamless investment process.
• Enhancing processes, products, and potential opportunities.
• Maintaining clear and effective communication with internal and external stakeholders, including clients.

What We Are Looking For:

• Hedge Fund Expertise: Possess knowledge and experience in hedge fund strategies, with a strong understanding of Equity and Credit strategies. A proven track record of hedge fund investing and a broad network of manager relationships are highly desirable.
• Technical Knowledge: Demonstrate an understanding of:
  • Financial instruments and asset classes.
  • Trade idea/signal generation.
  • Portfolio and risk management.
• Curiosity and Innovation: Are curious about the world and the industry, and enjoy tackling challenges while contributing thoughtful ideas to foster a culture of innovation.
• Judgment and Adaptability: Exhibit a balanced approach between having conviction and knowing when to reconsider.
• Communication Skills: Communicate clearly and succinctly, while also listening and empathizing effectively.
• Organizational Skills: Are well-organized and capable of prioritizing multiple demands on their time.
• Technical Proficiency: Have a strong working knowledge of MS Office applications, including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.

Base Salary Range: The anticipated based salary range for this position is $150,000-$180,000 + benefits + a discretionary bonus. This is the base salary range that the Company believes it will pay for this position at the time of this posting based on the location and requirements of the position as well as the skills, qualifications, and experience of the applicant.  The Firm reserves the right to modify this pay range at any time.
