Senior Data Protection Manager

The Role: 

Reporting directly to the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO), the Senior Data Protection Manager is a critical leader within the organisation, tasked with the oversight and enhancement of data privacy compliance frameworks. The correlation between privacy, cyber and data protection obligations, developments in technology, the proliferation of legislation and the enforcement landscape, makes this a multi-disciplined role. As a seasoned professional you will be responsible for the strategic development and implementation of data protection processes, staying ahead of international data protection regulations, and working with other internal stakeholders in setting the standards for data deletion.  

The role demands a unique combination of data protection legislation expertise, technical understanding, and leadership skills to navigate the complexities of data protection laws and ensure Man Group’s compliance with these regulations. Effective communication and project management are key, as this position involves leading a specialised team and partnering with stakeholders across the organization to safeguard sensitive information against privacy risks. 

 

Key Responsibilities: 

• Data Protection Process Leadership: Develop and maintain operational data protection processes in compliance with data protection laws, including the Record of Processing Activities, breach management process, and Data Protection Impact Assessments. 

• Compliance with Data Protection Laws and Horizon Scanning: Monitor and interpret global data protection laws, ensuring compliance in all jurisdictions where Man Group operates. 

• Record Retention and Data Deletion Standards: Work with technical teams, legal and compliance to set and maintain record retention and data deletion standards, aligning with data protection policies and privacy considerations. 

• Team Management: Lead and provide direction to the Data Protection Analyst, encouraging professional growth and upholding high standards in data privacy practices. 

• Strategic Planning: Participate in strategic planning for information security, focusing on data protection and its integration with business objectives. 

 

Your background and experience: 

• Education: At least Bachelor’s degree level of education required. Qualifications such as CIPP/E, CIPM, CIPT preferred. 

• Experience: Over 4 years in data protection or privacy roles with leadership experience; familiarity with data protection laws and cybersecurity frameworks. 

• Technical Knowledge: Solid understanding of IT infrastructure, data lifecycle, and data security practices; experience with data mapping and compliance software. 

• Analytical Skills: Strong analytical capabilities to manage complex regulations and convert them into operational processes.

• Communication: Superior communication skills for effective stakeholder engagement and cross-functional team leadership. 

• Project Management: Demonstrated ability to manage projects, lead teams, and achieve objectives within set timelines.
