Payment Network Team

The Banking Network team is responsible for onboarding, negotiating and evaluating partners for Mangopay across Banks, Acquiring, FX, Payout and alternative payment methods (APMs). 

The team is focussed on maintaining the current network but also building the future payment infrastructure for Mangopay to make it a world leader. Strong network partnership is a long term strategic objective for Mangopay.

The team are seeking an experienced Payment Network Lead to join them on supporting key Banking Network initiatives. The successful candidate would bring Fintech or banking experience with multiple projects delivered. This is a strategically important role to multiple internal stakeholders.

Role & Responsibilities:

Create, develop and execute bank and payment network strategy

  • Identify, evaluate and onboard new banks, fintechs and alternative payment providers.
  • Negotiate commercial terms on new contracts and renewals with our partners, as well as supporting wider strategic commercial initiatives. 
  • Own the bank partner implementation roadmap to support the Product Roadmap for new payment corridors, currencies, payout methods and digital/blockchain products. 
  • Continuously benchmark pricing and industry product regulation to keep the network best-in-class.


Network Relationship Management

  • Lead product RFPs, targeting cost improvements and stronger SLAs.
  • Build strong relationships with weekly interactions with our banking partners to maintain network resilience for our platforms and marketplace customers.  
  • Track contract renewals, fee schedules and service-level adherence; timely escalate variances to Finance.


Operational oversight & resilience

  • Own annual due-diligence and KYC refreshes, ensuring full compliance with PSD2, e-money and other local regulations.
  • Bring a risk-aware mindset, able to handle escalations and technology issues that impact our customers


Internal stakeholder alignment

  • Act as a trusted advisor across Treasury, Finance, Product, Compliance and Legal teams on new initiatives and regulatory requirements.
  • Confident communicator, able to explain complex technical requirements to a wide audience, from Executive stakeholders to internal colleagues 
  • Utilise partners to enhance the Mangopay product offering and enable Sales to be competitive

Background

  • >5 years in payments / fintech / transaction banking, with proven ownership of external payment networks or scheme relationships
  • Deep expert product knowledge of acquiring, cross-border payouts, FX, faster-payment and alternative rails; comfortable discussing API schemas and settlement files with Product Managers 
  • Track record negotiating multi-million-euro commercial contracts and service schedules
  • Strong grasp of treasury, liquidity and safeguarding principles
  • Familiar with PSD2, e-money, digital assets, sanctions and AML requirements; able to translate them into product requirements and partner obligations
  • AI and data-driven mindset - motivated to seek automation
  • Comfortable operating at C-suite Executive level while diving into operational detail when required
  • Accountability for the partner KYC calendar 
  • Leadership style that combines strategic thinking with hands-on pragmatism; you are as happy in a boardroom as in a project stand-up.
  • Fluent English (additional European language an advantage).
