Role Overview
Lookers Motor Group is seeking a detail oriented, analytical and data driven FP&A Analyst to join our group finance function. This role supports the Centre of Excellence FP&A team in delivering high-quality forecasting, reporting, and performance insight across the Group.
As we continue to strengthen our Group FP&A and Centre of Excellence capability, the FP&A Analyst will play a key role in producing robust financial analysis, improving reporting processes, and supporting the delivery of strategic initiatives. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, excellent Excel capability, and a keen interest in data, with ability to transform financial data into key business insights.
You will work closely with the FP&A Manager, Business Intelligence team, divisional finance teams and wider operational teams to support business performance reporting, budgeting cycles, and business partnering activity.
Key Responsibilities
- Performance Analysis & Reporting
- Support production of the weekly KPI and monthly management reporting, including variance analysis, and performance commentary.
- Prepare reporting packs for senior stakeholders, ensuring clarity and accuracy.
- Ensure all reporting and analysis is created in a consistent format and standard
- Transforming data into insights
- Utilising our current data warehouse, creating new performance and reporting insights required by the business, with support from the Business Intelligence team
- Assist Business Intelligence team with monthly financial reconciliations
- Support the FP&A, Business Intelligence & operational finance teams with ad hoc deep dive analysis.
- Forecasting & Planning Support
- Support the preparation of annual budgets and periodic reforecast cycles.
- Consolidate divisional submissions and assist in reviewing/challenging assumptions.
- Maintain and update forecasting models, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and timeliness.
- Assist with preparation of the 3‑year strategic plan modelling and inputs.
- Business Partnering
- Collaborate with divisional and functional finance teams to understand performance drivers.
- Provide analytical support to operational leaders to help drive informed decision‑making.
- Assist in preparing presentations and materials for senior leadership meetings.
- Continuous Improvement
- Support enhancements to forecasting templates, reporting automation, and data quality.
- Help maintain financial models used for scenario planning and strategic analysis.
- Contribute to the development of improved processes, controls, and governance across FP&A.
- Champion best‑practice analytical methods and support the evolution of the Group finance rhythm.
Key Skills & Experience
- Degree in Finance, Computer Science, Data Analytics, or a related discipline — or equivalent practical experience in financial analytical roles.
- Strong analytical abilities with competency in building financial models, performing variance analysis, and interpreting performance trends
- FP&A or Commercial finance experience required, manging workloads to tight deadlines, producing reporting packs for senior leaderships
- Strong PowerPoint skills essential
- Advanced Excel skills (e.g., complex formulas, linked models, pivot tables).
- Familiarity with Business Intelligence tools ( such as Power BI or Tableau)
- Comfortable managing large, complex datasets with strong attention to accuracy and data quality.
- Curious, proactive, and eager to develop new skills in a fast-paced, evolving finance environment
- Strong organisational skills, able to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
- Experience in automotive, retail, or multi‑site operations can be beneficial but is not required.
