ABOUT TALON.ONE:

ABOUT THE ROLE:
We're not looking for "just another engineer." We're looking for someone who thrives in the gray zone between chaos and creation. At Talon. One, you'll help us move at high speed through prototypes, experiments, and wild ideas—most of which won't survive, but the few that do could shape the future of our product.
This isn't about polished, production-grade code. It's about speed, creativity, and an appetite for risk. You'll work directly with our CPO, CEO, and other product leaders to translate brainwaves into working demos, test them with customers, and uncover the gems worth scaling.
You're primarily a backend engineer who can move across the stack when needed. Our core product is built in Go, and you'll be working with it regularly—so openness to learning and working with Go is essential.
If you love building things that might get thrown away tomorrow but could inspire the next big thing—this is your playground.
ONCE YOU ARE HERE YOU WILL:
- Rapidly build prototypes and MVPs across the stack to test product ideas.
- Work closely with stakeholders to turn napkin sketches into demos that feel real.
- Build functional frontends when needed to showcase your backend work (polish not required).
- Iterate fast—scrap what fails, double down on what works.
- Use modern AI tools (Gemini, ChatGPT, Claude, etc.) to accelerate development and ideation.
- Collaborate with internal teams and customers to validate assumptions.
- Learn and work with Go as you integrate with our existing systems.
- Inject creativity, challenge conventions, and embrace "crazy ideas" as part of the process.
WHAT WE NEED YOU TO BRING TO THE TABLE:
- Strong backend engineering experience - API design, server-side architecture, data handling.
- Frontend capability with React, Next.js, or similar (functional is enough—this isn't your primary focus).
- Openness and enthusiasm for learning Go - our core product runs on it, and you'll be working with it regularly.
- Ability to move across the stack with pragmatism and speed.
- Curiosity and openness to experimentation—even failure excites you.
- Strong communication skills, and the ability to switch contexts quickly.
- Collaborative mindset—comfortable working directly with executives and bouncing ideas around.
- Bonus points for:
- Current Go experience - many of our systems run on it.
- Background in startups, innovation labs, or fast-moving prototyping teams.
- Hands-on experience with AI-assisted development tools (Gemini, Claude, Copilot, ChatGPT).
- Experience with API integrations and third-party platforms.
- Work at the edge of experimentation—your job is literally to explore the unknown
