Product Designer (Part-Time, Contract)

Budapest, Hungary

Part-time independent contractor role with the potential for a long-term collaboration.

We're looking for a visionary creative genius who can turn ideas into beautiful, practical, and buildable digital experiences.

This is a unique opportunity to shape the visual identity of a product from the ground up. As the first designer on the team, you'll own the creative direction and work closely with stakeholders to transform ideas, concepts, and inspiration into impactful, real-world designs. You'll play a key role in defining how the product looks, feels, and evolves from day one.

What You'll Do

  • Design intuitive, visually polished user experiences across web and mobile products.
  • Create user flows, wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs from concept through delivery.
  • Shape and maintain the product's visual language, ensuring a high-quality and consistent user experience.
  • Contribute to and evolve the design system to support scalability and consistency across the product.
  • Design and optimize key e-commerce experiences, including product discovery, search and filtering, product pages, personalization features, customer accounts, and checkout flows.
  • Work closely with engineers to ensure designs are practical, technically feasible, and implemented as intended.
  • Use user feedback, testing, and data to inform design decisions and improve the overall experience.
  • Collaborate with founders and stakeholders to translate business needs into effective product solutions.

What We're Looking For

  • Proven experience designing consumer-facing digital products, ideally in e-commerce, beauty, fashion, luxury retail, or personalization-focused platforms, combined with exceptional visual design skills and the ability to create premium, distinctive, and engaging user experiences.
  • Excellent visual design foundations including typography, color theory, visual hierarchy, composition, and creating engaging digital experience.
  • Deep understanding of UX and product design, including information architecture, user flows, wireframing, interaction design, usability testing, accessibility, and design system development.
  • Understanding of user behavior and consumer decision-making in digital products and e-commerce experiences.
  • Advanced proficiency with Figma, including Auto Layout, Components & Variants, Variables, Design Tokens, and Interactive Prototyping to create scalable and production-ready designs.
  • Hands-on experience designing e-commerce products, including product listing pages, search and filtering experiences, product detail pages, checkout flows, mobile commerce, customer accounts, and personalization features.
  • Strong understanding of responsive and mobile-first design principles, front-end implementation constraints, accessibility standards, and effective collaboration with engineering teams.
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to explain design decisions, justify trade-offs, and incorporate feedback constructively.

Nice to Have

  • Experience designing products in e-commerce, beauty, fashion, luxury, or other consumer-focused industries.
  • Experience with personalization, recommendation systems, configurators, or other interactive product experiences.
  • Experience building or maintaining large-scale design systems.
