Technical Recruiter - In House

Budapest, Hungary

Technical Recruiter – In-House

Job Description

General Info

This position is on-site in Budapest, full time, and requires EU residency or an existing EU work visa.

We are developing a breakthrough imaging and 3D technology platform, currently under provisional patent, built around a highly advanced imaging and analysis pipeline. You will own full-cycle recruiting for senior technical roles across ML engineering and research, imaging science, C++ and real-time systems, mobile, and GPU, server, and DevOps infrastructure, plus QA leads, market analysts, partnership integration staff, HR, and so forth. A full spectrum not just a technical team.

This is an in-house role for a technical recruiter who wants to help build a company, not process requisitions. We are a flat organization at the startup stage, doing some of the most technically ambitious work happening in Hungary. You will sit with the team, work directly with the leads, help define what each role actually needs before it is opened, write and refine the job descriptions yourself, and shape how we interview. Sourcing here is proactive and direct: the people we want are not applying to job boards.

The experience range for this role is deliberate. We are looking for someone with a solid foundation in technical recruiting who is ready to take the next step in their career. You should be comfortable working independently, but you don't need to have all the answers on day one. What matters most is good recruiting judgment, curiosity, and the ability to learn quickly. As headcount grows, this role becomes the foundation of the recruiting function, and the person who succeeds in it will have the opportunity to build and lead a recruiting team.

Tasks

Recruiting & Talent Acquisition

  • Own full-cycle recruiting for senior technical roles across ML engineering and research, imaging science, C++ and real-time systems, mobile, and GPU, server, and DevOps infrastructure, plus QA leads, market analysts, partnership integration staff, HR and so forth. A full spectrum not just a technical team.
  • Source proactively and directly through LinkedIn Recruiter, GitHub, publication and conference networks, and the Hungarian and wider CEE technical community. Most of our hires will come from outbound, not inbound.
  • Work with the leads to define what each role genuinely requires, then draft and refine the job descriptions rather than posting what you are handed.
  • Design and run structured, fair, and fast interview processes: technical panel coordination, interview kits, scorecards, and a candidate experience that reflects how we treat people.
  • Screen technically at first contact. Hold a credible conversation with an ML engineer or a systems engineer and separate real signal from keyword matches before consuming engineering time.
  • Own the recruiting process end to end in Greenhouse: pipeline hygiene, interview kits and scorecards, structured feedback, and reporting on funnel conversion, source quality, and time to hire.
  • Build and run employer brand and candidate-facing presence: careers content, job postings and wrapping, outreach messaging, and engagement with the local technical community.
  • Support offer development and closing: benchmarking against current Hungarian market data, presenting offers, handling negotiation, and closing candidates.
  • Coordinate work authorization and relocation with counsel where candidates require a Hungarian Card, EU Blue Card, or other permit, and keep those candidates supported through the process.
  • Keep recruiting practice compliant with the EU Pay Transparency Directive and Hungarian employment law, including published salary ranges, objective gender-neutral criteria, and the prohibition on requesting salary history.
  • Build the recruiting function itself: sourcing playbooks, talent pipelines, interview standards, and the processes that will still work at three times our current headcount.

Requirements

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent demonstrated professional experience.
  • Ideally 3–5 years of hands-on technical recruiting experience, in-house or with a specialist technical search firm. We are hiring for depth and trajectory rather than for a title, and we assess each candidate on their own merits.
  • A demonstrated track record sourcing, engaging, and closing senior engineering talent — ML, computer vision or imaging, backend and systems, infrastructure, or DevOps.
  • Proven direct sourcing ability, with concrete examples of hard hires you personally found and closed.
  • Working fluency with an applicant tracking system (Greenhouse preferred) and with LinkedIn Recruiter.
  • Fluent Hungarian and English, both written and spoken. English is our working language; Hungarian is essential for sourcing and closing in this market.
  • Candidates must be eligible to work in Hungary.

Skills & Competencies

  • Technical curiosity and a willingness to learn. You don't need to be an engineer, but you should be comfortable learning about technical roles and asking the right questions to understand what makes a candidate relevant.
  • Real judgment about talent: the ability to recognize exceptional people who do not match the obvious keyword profile, and to argue for them.
  • Excellent written communication. Outbound that senior engineers actually answer is a craft, and we expect you to be good at it.
  • Comfort operating in a confidential, research-driven, fast-moving environment where priorities shift and roles are defined as we go.
  • High ownership. Open roles are yours to solve, not a queue to process. You will be the recruiting function to begin with, sourcing and closing personally rather than directing a team — and you will not be doing it alone. Hiring is a company priority here, the Managing Director and the leads are directly involved in interviewing and closing, and you will have their time whenever you need it.
  • Discretion and integrity in handling confidential candidate, compensation, and company information.
  • Genuine interest in the work itself. The best technical recruiters we have worked with can explain what the company is building and why it matters.

Additional Preferred Experience

  • Experience recruiting for an early-stage startup or an R&D or innovation-lab environment.
  • Deep-tech hiring experience: computer vision, ML research, imaging, or hardware-adjacent engineering.
  • Experience with international hiring and relocation into Hungary, including visa and permit processes.
  • Experience building a recruiting function from scratch rather than inheriting one.
  • Employer branding or technical community engagement in the Budapest ecosystem — meetups, university relationships, conference presence.
  • Interest in growing into leadership of the recruiting function as the company scales.

Compensation

In accordance with Hungary’s implementation of the EU Pay Transparency Directive (Directive (EU) 2023/970):

  • Salary range: HUF 1,000,000 – HUF 1,500,000 gross per month, depending on experience and demonstrated track record.
  • Discretionary performance bonus and benefits on the same structure as the rest of the team, with details discussed with shortlisted candidates.
  • This role carries no placement commission or per-hire incentive. That is deliberate. We want a colleague whose judgment about a candidate is never in tension with their own compensation, and who is measured on the quality of the team we build rather than the count of requisitions closed.

Compensation decisions are made on the basis of objective, gender-neutral criteria, including relevant experience, technical skills, scope of responsibility, and demonstrated performance. The Company does not request salary history during the recruitment process.
