Senior C++ Software Engineer – ML Pipeline Integration
Senior C++ Software Engineer – ML Pipeline Integration
Job Description
General Info
This position is on-site in Budapest and requires EU residency or an existing EU work visa.
We are developing a breakthrough imaging and 3D technology platform, currently under provisional patent, built around a highly advanced imaging and analysis pipeline. This is a hands-on, senior C++ engineering role owning the data path from capture through inference to product: the interfaces and pipelines that feed our ML models, the integration of model output with consumer-facing applications, and the connection of the full pipeline to our cloud server infrastructure. You will build reliable, low-latency services and APIs for data exchange between edge devices, mobile clients, and backend systems. You will work shoulder to shoulder with ML engineers, GPU infrastructure teams, the capture systems engineer upstream of you, and consumer and commercial product engineers downstream. We are looking for an exceptional coder who writes highly efficient, scalable, maintainable, production-quality C++ every day.
Tasks
Pipeline & Platform Development & Architecture
- Write highly efficient, scalable, and maintainable production-quality C++: clean, well-tested, and tuned for throughput, latency, and memory on data-intensive imaging workloads.
- Design and build the ingest layer that consumes capture output from the camera and sensor control systems: buffering, batching, backpressure, and serialization under sustained high data rates.
- Build the pre- and post-processing paths around inference: format and colorspace conversion, tensor layout, batching, and GPU memory management.
- Integrate ML models into production serving paths and own the runtime interfaces to them, in close collaboration with the ML engineering team.
- Connect model output to consumer-facing applications through versioned schemas, stable data contracts, and clean, well-documented APIs.
- Integrate the pipeline with cloud server infrastructure, building reliable, low-latency services and APIs for data exchange between edge devices, mobile clients, and backend systems.
- Build the observability layer for the pipeline: throughput and latency instrumentation, tracing, and the diagnostics needed to find regressions fast.
- Contribute to architecture decisions across the pipeline and platform, balancing raw performance against long-term maintainability and scalability.
- Profile, benchmark, and optimize hot paths, hunting down bottlenecks and eliminating them at the algorithmic and systems level.
Requirements
Education & Experience
- Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a closely related field. Exceptional Bachelor’s-level candidates with outstanding demonstrated depth will also be considered.
- Around 5–8 years of hands-on, current professional experience writing production C++, with a proven track record of shipping systems end to end. We want engineers who are still deep in the code every day.
- Expert-level, up-to-date command of modern C++ (C++17/20): highly efficient, optimized, production-grade code of the highest quality and reliability, with strong command of memory management, concurrency, and performance tuning.
- Demonstrated experience building data-intensive systems, pipelines, and backend services and APIs operating under real throughput and latency constraints.
- Hands-on experience integrating ML models into C++ production paths (e.g. TensorRT, ONNX Runtime, LibTorch), including GPU memory and batching considerations.
- Experience with cloud service integration and distributed data exchange: RPC and serialization (e.g. gRPC, Protocol Buffers, FlatBuffers), containerized deployment, and object storage.
- Comfortable working down to the capture hardware boundary and up the stack to mobile and consumer integration as the problem demands.
Skills & Competencies
- Exceptional problem-solving ability and systems thinking, able to decompose complex, novel problems and reason rigorously about performance, correctness, and trade-offs.
- Comfort operating in a confidential, research-driven, fast-moving environment where requirements evolve quickly.
- Ability to collaborate effectively across ML, GPU/infrastructure, hardware, and product teams, and to negotiate clean interfaces with the capture side of the stack.
- Genuine passion for imaging, machine learning, and high-performance systems, with the drive to go deep and stay current with the state of the art.
- High ownership, sharp attention to detail, adaptability, and intellectual curiosity.
Additional Preferred Experience
- Experience in early-stage startup or R&D / innovation-lab environments, delivering novel products under ambiguity.
- Track record of delivering first-of-its-kind products or platforms.
- Familiarity with GPU programming (e.g. CUDA) and GPU-resident data pipelines.
- Experience exposing C++ systems to Python-based ML workflows (e.g. pybind11) and supporting research teams in production.
- Experience with streaming infrastructure, large-scale object storage, and major cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
- Familiarity with computer vision, image and volumetric data formats at scale, or real-time ML serving.
- Candidates must be eligible to work in Hungary, with fluent English, both written and spoken.
Compensation
In accordance with Hungary’s implementation of the EU Pay Transparency Directive (Directive (EU) 2023/970):
- Salary range: HUF 2,000,000 – HUF 2,500,000 gross per month, depending on experience and demonstrated technical depth.
- Discretionary performance bonus, with details discussed with shortlisted candidates.
Compensation decisions are made on the basis of objective, gender-neutral criteria, including relevant experience, technical skills, scope of responsibility, and demonstrated performance. The Company does not request salary history during the recruitment process.
