Technical Director (f/m/d)

We’re in search of a Technical Director (f/m/d) who can play a pivotal role in creating, what we believe will be the first MMO of its kind.

Who will you be working with?

You will be part of our Engineering team, responsible for bringing SEED to life through code. As the Technical Director, you will build a team of engineers, facilitate communication between teams and departments, and contribute to technical product ownership. You will report directly to the CTO and work closely with the engineering management team. 

The Engineering team works across multiple locations - our Berlin HQ and our Madrid Studio but we're looking for someone to be based in Berlin, at Klang HQ.

What will you be doing?

  • Working closely with our CTO, Oddur, to shape and execute Klang’s engineering strategy.
  • Translating our business strategy into clear technical requirements while improving productivity, keeping processes lean, and ensuring scalability.
  • Collaborating with our Talent Acquisition team, other department directors, and senior leadership to drive team capacity planning.
  • Championing and guiding the engineering team in applying modern development methodologies to achieve our goals while fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Overseeing the leadership of Klang’s Engineering team across Berlin and Madrid, and directly managing the Leadership team. You’ll work closely with them to set professional growth goals, conduct performance reviews throughout our growth cycles, and hold regular 1:1s to ensure alignment and support.

You could be the person we are searching for if you have…

  • Experience leading cross-discipline teams in both agile and live-ops environments.
  • Successfully led a team of leaders.
  • Proven experience with scalable team capacity planning.
  • Strong knowledge and hands-on experience with modern development methodologies such as TDD, OOD,  CI, TBD, CD & DORA.
  • Great technical domain understanding and the ability to translate company strategy into technical execution.

How we will get to know you… 

  1. The recruiter screen: You will have a 45-minute interview with one of the Klang Talent Acquisition Team. During this conversation, you will be asked questions about your motivations for joining us here at Klang and to give an overview of your relevant skills/experience.

  2. Hiring Manager interview: If successful, you will have a 1 hour interview with Oddur, our CTO where he will dive much deeper into your experience.

  3. Leadership interview: An interview focused on your leadership skills with our Development Director, Cathay.

  4. Competency interview: The chance to meet with our Co-CEO and Product Director.

  5. Direct reports interview: 2 x 90-minute interviews with your potential future direct reports.

  6. Klang values interview: As the final step of the interview process, you’ll meet with your Recruiter and you’ll be asked a set of questions linked to our company values.
