Role Profile – Business Change Lead

Title: Business Change Lead

Reporting to: Performance Associate Director

Location: Limerick / Dublin / Galway

Role Purpose:

Kirby Group Engineering & Construction is looking for a motivated, detail-oriented and experienced Business Change Lead to join our dynamic team. The Business Change Lead will play a key role in driving strategic business change and interfacing between business change initiatives and operational teams, helping new processes, systems and ways of working to achieve sustained adoption.

Core Responsibilities:

Assess the change impact

  1. Conduct impact analyses, assess change readiness and identify affected stakeholder groups, required behaviour changes and adoption risks.
  2. Identify sponsors, business owners, change champions and key stakeholders and clarify their responsibilities for successful implementation.
  3. Assess the cumulative impact of concurrent initiatives on project and functional teams.
  4. Monitor progress and evaluate the effectiveness of change initiatives, adjusting plans where required to support successful outcomes.

Apply structured change methodologies and lead change management activities

  1. Develop and maintain Kirby’s practical change management framework, using structured methodologies such as ADKAR where appropriate.
  2. Develop change strategies covering sponsorship, stakeholder engagement, communications, training, resistance management and reinforcement.
  3. Embed proportionate change management activities and deliverables within the standard initiative lifecycle.
  4. Coach sponsors, business owners, managers and initiative leads on their responsibilities for adoption and behavioural change.

Support communication efforts and stakeholder engagement

  1. Develop and manage a coordinated communications calendar for initiatives that directly affect Operations and project teams.
  2. Enable the design, development and delivery of clear, audience-specific communications that explain the business need, expected behaviours and required actions.
  3. Collaborate closely with Operations, Project Management, HR, Learning and Development, Communications and Digital/IT to align change activities.
  4. Build strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels of the organisation to foster collaboration and secure support.
  5. Solicit feedback from stakeholders and project users to continuously improve change plans and implementation activity.

Support training efforts

  1. Carry out training needs analysis as part of change impact and readiness assessments.
  2. Define learning requirements and support learning leads and subject-matter experts with the design, delivery and evaluation of practical training and guidance.
  3. Confirm that affected users understand the change, can apply the new way of working and have access to ongoing support.

Measure adoption and benefits realisation

  1. Define and report change readiness, resistance, adoption, compliance and reinforcement indicators.
  2. Monitor whether users are routinely applying new processes, systems and behaviours after rollout.
  3. Coordinate corrective actions where adoption is inconsistent or the intended business outcome is at risk.
  4. Support business owners to define, track and report benefits realisation after implementation.

Continuous Improvement

  1. Stay abreast of industry trends, best practices and emerging technologies related to change management.
  2. Lead improvements to Kirby’s change management framework, tools and ways of working.
  3. Encourage a culture of innovation, knowledge sharing and organisational learning.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  1. Essential: Recognised third level qualification; master’s degree preferred.
  2. Desirable: Qualification in organisational behaviour, change management or equivalent.
  3. Minimum 5 years’ relevant change management experience, preferably within the engineering or construction industry.
  4. Strong understanding and practical application of structured change management methodologies.
  5. Experience in stakeholder, impact and readiness assessment and in developing communications, engagement, training and resistance management plans.
  6. Excellent communication, interpersonal, facilitation and influencing skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels and move them towards a common vision or goal.
  7. Strong analytical capability to define adoption KPIs, interpret feedback and report change risks clearly.
  8. As the Business Change Lead, you will have the opportunity to shape how change is delivered across Kirby and empower employees and project teams to succeed in a rapidly evolving business environment.
