What You'll Be Doing
You will lead the development, review and coordination of BMS engineering deliverables throughout the project lifecycle, including:
- Tier 2 engineering and design submittals
- I/O schedules and data point lists
- Equipment schedules and system schematics
- Panel designs, device layouts and control interlocks
- Functional Design Specifications (FDS)
- Cause and Effect matrices
- Testing, demonstration and acceptance documentation
- O&M documentation and record drawings
- Technical reviews of vendor and equipment submittals
You will ensure that BMS solutions align with project specifications, client requirements and industry standards while maintaining full design traceability and change control throughout the project.
Design Coordination & Engineering Responsibilities
- Lead the development of BMS design documentation for hyperscale data centre projects
- Review mechanical and electrical design packages to ensure integration with BMS systems
- Coordinate engineering activities with MEP, BIM, QA/QC and commissioning teams
- Develop and maintain Functional Design Specifications and control philosophies
- Produce and review control schematics, wiring diagrams and panel layouts
- Manage design changes and ensure engineering records remain accurate and auditable
- Review subcontractor and vendor submittals for technical compliance
- Participate in design coordination meetings, workshops and model reviews
- Identify and resolve technical issues during design development
- Support value engineering and continuous improvement initiatives
- Ensure designs comply with project specifications, industry standards and client requirements
Project Delivery Support
Although primarily office-based, you will support project teams throughout delivery by:
- Providing technical guidance to site-based engineering teams
- Supporting engineering queries and technical issue resolution
- Reviewing commissioning procedures and testing documentation
- Participating in progress reviews and technical workshops
- Monitoring engineering deliverables against project programmes
- Supporting change management and engineering risk assessments
- Liaising with specialist subcontractors and equipment vendors
- Assisting with quality reviews and technical audits where required
Testing, Commissioning & Handover
- Support the development and review of commissioning documentation
- Review testing procedures and BMS demonstration scripts
- Ensure engineering deliverables support successful commissioning activities
- Verify that all system changes are documented and incorporated into final records
- Review as-built documentation and O&M manuals
- Support client demonstrations and technical handover processes
- Contribute to project close-out reports and lessons learned reviews
What You'll Need to Succeed
- Degree or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, Automation, Controls Engineering or a related discipline
- Significant experience delivering BMS projects within data centres, pharmaceutical, industrial, critical facilities or other complex environments
- Strong understanding of BMS architecture, controls philosophy and system integration
- Experience producing Functional Design Specifications, I/O schedules and control schematics
- Knowledge of HVAC systems and their integration with BMS controls
- Experience reviewing technical submittals and coordinating multidisciplinary engineering teams
- Strong understanding of commissioning and handover processes
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Proficiency with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office applications
- Ability to manage multiple priorities within fast-paced project environments
