Senior Project Quantity Surveyor | Milan, Italy | Data Centre

Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced Senior Project Quantity Surveyor to join our commercial team on a major Data Centre project in Milan.
 
This is a pivotal role where you will take ownership of the commercial management of the project, ensuring contractual obligations are met while maximising commercial performance from project commencement through to final account.
 
What You'll Be Doing
  • Lead the commercial delivery of a major Data Centre project from pre-construction through to final account.
  • Manage subcontractor accounts, interim valuations and final accounts, ensuring payment processes align with subcontract agreements and procurement terms.
  • Administer contractual obligations while supporting both project and client-specific commercial requirements.
  • Prepare and submit accurate monthly applications for payment, including remeasures, variations, dayworks, change orders and contractual claims.
  • Identify and manage commercial risks, ensuring timely reporting and escalation to senior leadership.
  • Develop, manage and maintain project budgets, cost plans, BOQs, profit plans and commercial forecasts.
  • Lead commercial meetings with clients, subcontractors and internal project teams, providing detailed cost and performance reporting.
  • Manage and agree variations, compensation events, dayworks and change control processes.
  • Work closely with Project Managers and Planning Engineers to ensure commercial reporting accurately reflects project progress and programme performance.
  • Monitor labour, material and subcontract costs, identifying potential escalations and opportunities for cost optimisation.
  • Maintain robust commercial records and supporting documentation to underpin project reporting and account settlements.
  • Support contract administration activities and ensure compliance with project and company governance procedures.
  • Negotiate effectively with clients, consultants and subcontractors to achieve favourable commercial outcomes.
  • Provide leadership and commercial guidance to project teams while driving best practice throughout project delivery.
What We're Looking For
  • Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor or Project Quantity Surveyor on large-scale construction or engineering projects.
  • Previous Data Centre, Mission Critical, Industrial, Pharmaceutical or similar technically complex project experience would be highly advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of contract administration, cost management and commercial reporting.
  • Excellent knowledge of variations, claims management, procurement and subcontractor account management.
  • Strong commercial awareness with the ability to identify and mitigate risk.
  • Experience managing client-facing commercial processes and building successful stakeholder relationships.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication and reporting skills.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritise effectively and perform in a fast-paced project environment.
  • Strong attention to detail with a focus on accuracy and quality.
  • Relevant Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics or related qualification.
