Commercial Manager | Data Centre Project | Sweden

At Kirby Group Engineering, we're looking for an experienced Commercial Manager to lead the commercial function on a major data centre project in Sweden. This is an opportunity to influence project success from pre-construction through to final account, working alongside some of the industry's most experienced engineering, operational and commercial professionals.

The Opportunity

As Commercial Manager, you will take ownership of the commercial performance of the project, ensuring maximum value is achieved while protecting the company's contractual position and managing commercial risk.

Working closely with the Commercial Director, Operations Manager, Project Managers and wider project teams, you will provide strategic commercial leadership throughout the full project lifecycle.

You will be responsible for ensuring strong commercial governance, delivering accurate financial reporting, managing contractual obligations and supporting both operational and commercial teams in achieving project objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Lead all commercial activities throughout the project lifecycle from tender evaluation through to final account settlement.
Manage project revenue, profitability, cash flow forecasting and monthly commercial reporting.
Provide strategic commercial leadership and support business objectives through effective commercial management.
Review, negotiate and manage client contracts, ensuring risks and liabilities are fully understood and appropriately managed.
Lead commercial negotiations with clients, subcontractors and key project stakeholders.
Identify, assess and mitigate commercial, contractual and financial risks.
Oversee profit plans, forecasts and project financial performance, ensuring accuracy and accountability.
Support project teams with commercial guidance and contractual interpretation.
Manage and develop Quantity Surveyors and commercial team members across the project.
Ensure subcontract agreements, purchase orders, letters of intent and commercial documentation are correctly implemented.
Drive the resolution of commercial issues, claims and final account negotiations.
Audit project commercial processes and challenge performance to maximise project outcomes.
Work closely with engineering, planning, finance and operations teams to strengthen commercial awareness across the project.
Build and maintain strong client relationships while identifying future business opportunities.
Lead lessons learned initiatives to support continuous improvement across the business.
Champion best practice, process improvement and commercial excellence.

What We're Looking For

Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Construction Management or a related discipline.
Extensive experience in a Commercial Manager or Senior Commercial role within construction, engineering, MEP or data centre environments.
Strong knowledge of construction contracts, commercial governance and risk management.
Proven ability to manage large-scale, complex projects from pre-construction through to completion.
Excellent commercial negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
Strong financial acumen with experience managing project profitability and cash flow.
Experience leading and developing commercial teams.
Strong communication, leadership and decision-making abilities.
Experience within data centres, mission critical facilities or major engineering projects is highly desirable.
Willingness to work on-site in Sweden.
