Role Description
The Certification Engineer will be responsible for managing end-to-end product certification and regulatory compliance for Kimbal’s smart meters, gateways, EMS hardware, and related systems. This role ensures that all products comply with applicable national and international standards, statutory requirements, and customer certification needs before commercialization and deployment.
The role will work closely with R&D, validation, quality, manufacturing, supply chain, and external certification agencies to ensure timely approvals, renewals, and compliance continuity.
Key Responsibilities

Own and manage end-to-end product certification lifecycle from planning to approval

Identify applicable standards, regulations, and certification requirements for each product

Coordinate with certification bodies, NABL labs, testing agencies, and regulatory authorities

Prepare and submit technical documentation, test reports, and compliance dossiers

Support type testing, routine testing, and witness testing activities

Track certification timelines, validity, renewals, and change impacts

Support R&D and product teams during design for compliance and pre-certification reviews

Manage non-compliances, deviations, and corrective actions identified during certification

Ensure compliance with statutory requirements such as IS, IEC, CEA, BIS, MID (where applicable)

Maintain certification records, MIS, and audit-ready documentation

Support customer and utility audits related to certifications and approvals

Job Requirements
Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation, or related Engineering discipline
Experience
-
4–8 years of experience in product certification, regulatory compliance, or testing roles
-
Experience in smart meters, power electronics, EMS, utilities, or energy products preferred
Functional & Technical Skills
-
Strong knowledge of IS / IEC standards applicable to electrical and electronic products

Experience coordinating with NABL-accredited labs and certification bodies
-
Ability to interpret standards and translate requirements into actionable inputs for R&D

Strong documentation, compliance tracking, and stakeholder coordination skills
-
Understanding of testing procedures, validation, and quality systems

Familiarity with statutory requirements from utilities, DISCOMs, and regulators
