Role Description
We are looking for a highly skilled Core DBA – PostgreSQL to own the design, performance, reliability, and security of our mission-critical database environments. The role requires deep expertise in PostgreSQL architecture, optimization, high availability, and database lifecycle management. The ideal candidate will ensure high performance, scalability, and resilience of database systems supporting large-scale, real-time applications in a fast-growing technology environment.
Key Responsibilities

Design, implement, and manage PostgreSQL database architecture across production and non-production environments.

Ensure high availability, replication, failover, backup, and disaster recovery strategies are robust and tested.

Monitor database performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement tuning and optimization strategies.

Manage database security, access controls, and compliance requirements.

Plan and execute database upgrades, migrations, and patch management with minimal downtime.

Work closely with engineering teams for schema design, query optimization, and release management.

Automate database operations and monitoring using scripts and tools.

Maintain documentation for database configurations, SOPs, and recovery procedures.
Current Challenges

Scaling PostgreSQL infrastructure to support high transaction volumes and real-time processing.

Ensuring zero data loss and minimal downtime in high-availability environments.

Optimizing complex queries and large datasets for performance efficiency.

Managing database growth, storage optimization, and capacity planning.

Strengthening database security while maintaining operational agility.
Qualifications & Experience
-
5–8+ years of hands-on experience as a PostgreSQL DBA in production environments.

Strong expertise in PostgreSQL internals, indexing strategies, partitioning, and performance tuning.

Experience with replication (Streaming Replication, Logical Replication), clustering, and HA setups.

Strong knowledge of backup and recovery strategies (PITR, WAL management).

Experience in Linux environments and shell scripting.

Exposure to cloud-based database deployments (AWS/GCP/Azure) preferred.

Familiarity with monitoring tools and automation frameworks.
