First Mile Manager - All hubs - Jumia (Full Time)

Ivory Coast

At Jumia, mobility is at the heart of our people development approach. This job board helps us establish more transparency in available opportunities in the company to promote mobility.

You need to follow simple guidelines:

  • Before applying, make sure you discuss the opportunity with your direct manager and that both of you agree that this is positive for your development (written approval from your direct manager will be required).
  • Apply with your Jumia e-mail.

What you will do?

  • Lead First Mile Operations Across Hubs: Oversee daily pickup, consolidation, and inbound transfer operations across all hub locations, ensuring seamless initial-stage logistics execution and schedule adherence.
  • Optimize Pickup & Transfer Workflows: Streamline route planning for pickup fleets, hub sorting processes, and linehaul handovers to maximize operational throughput and minimize initial transit delays.
  • Resolve Operational Inquiries & Bottlenecks: Investigate and resolve complex pickup delays, seller/vendor handoff exceptions, and hub capacity constraints by collaborating closely with internal teams (Hub Operations, Middle/Last Mile, Inventory, Tech).
  • Maintain Performance Metrics: Meet and exceed key performance indicators (KPIs), focusing on pickup SLA compliance, first-mile lead time, hub processing speed, and vehicle capacity utilization.
  • Drive Process Improvement: Identify recurring bottlenecks across all hubs and propose actionable improvements to optimize Transportation/Warehouse Management Systems (TMS/WMS) and overall first-mile efficiency.
  • Data Integrity & Systems Documentation: Ensure accurate tracking of inbound packages, transfer manifests, vendor pickups, and inventory scans within our TMS/ERP platforms.

What we are looking for?

  • First Mile & Operational Mindset: Proven experience in supply chain, first-mile logistics, hub operations, or fleet management (experience managing multi-hub operations or e-commerce logistics network is a major plus).
  • Excellent Communication: Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to coordinate effectively across hub supervisors, carrier teams, vendors, and cross-functional departments.
  • Problem-Solving Prowess: A resourceful and analytical thinker who excels at analyzing pickup flows, hub bottlenecks, and linehaul schedules to root-cause and resolve delays.
  • Tech-Savvy Skillset: Comfort navigating Transportation Management Systems (TMS), Warehouse/Hub Management Systems (WMS), route optimization software, and MS Office Suite (especially Excel).
  • Agility & Adaptability: Ability to manage dynamic hub volumes, adapt to peak-season fluctuations, and thrive in a fast-paced, multi-site logistics environment.
  • Team Spirit & Leadership: A collaborative attitude with proven ability to motivate, lead, and support regional hub teams and first-mile operational leads.
