
Head of security - Jumia (Full Time)

What you will be doing
- Team & Operations Management: Oversee the scheduling, management, and performance of security and investigation teams, while optimizing resource allocation and maintaining operational integrity.
- Site Security & Compliance: Ensure all installations meet current security and safety standards through regular audits, risk mapping, and the implementation of robust security policies and operational procedures.
- Technology & Access Control: Supervise electronic security systems (CCTV, access control, remote monitoring) and manage site access for both internal staff and external visitors.
- Vendor & Financial Management: Monitor and manage external security service providers, track departmental KPIs, and oversee costs responsibly and efficiently.
- Incident Response & Investigations: Lead immediate interventions during security incidents, conduct internal investigations into theft or breaches, and produce comprehensive final reports.
- External Relations & Crisis Management: Serve as the primary liaison with law enforcement and fire services, and coordinate internal response with external emergency teams during crisis situations.
- Training & Awareness: Organize regular security drills and lead staff training sessions to foster a strong safety culture across the organization.
- Reporting: Produce regular, clear reports and updates for the executive board.
What we are looking for
- Education & Experience: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Security or Risk Management, or a background in the military or law enforcement, with at least 5 years of proven experience in a similar corporate or public/private security role.
- Technical & Regulatory Expertise: Strong proficiency in security auditing, risk analysis, and security technologies (CCTV, access control), combined with a solid understanding of HSE standards and security regulations.
- Leadership & Interpersonal Skills: Ability to manage teams and enforce rules firmly yet diplomatically, with strong communication skills across all levels, from staff to executive management and external authorities.
- Crisis Resilience & Ethics: Composure and decisiveness under pressure, paired with an unwavering commitment to professional ethics and confidentiality.
- Availability: Flexibility to manage on-call shifts (nights and weekends) in response to security alerts.
