
Regional Financial Controller - IC & SN - Full Time (Jumia)

What you will be doing
- Accounting and Issue Resolution
- Own the resolution of open accounting issues, managing the issue log as the primary driver of progress
- Coordinate with local teams and central finance to follow up on overdue actions and corrections
- Present regular updates on issue resolution status and escalate critical blockers to the CFO
- General Ledger Integrity & Month-End Close
- Lead the cleanup and ongoing maintenance of the General Ledger, including aged AP/AR and unreconciled transactions
- Assist in monthly and quarterly closing activities to improve cut-off accuracy and efficiency, and compliance with group deadlines
- Assist in the balance sheet reconciliations
- Ad Hoc Analysis & Projects
- Conduct financial deep-dives, analysis, and business case reviews to support decision-making
- Drive the variance analysis (budget vs actual) process across departments and country to understand deviations and recommend corrective actions
- Collaborate with key stakeholders to implement process improvements and cost-saving initiatives
- Financial Operations Monitoring
- Provide operational finance support on collections, payment delays, reconciliation gaps, and losses investigations
- Liaise with commercial, warehouse, and operations teams to ensure alignment and timely issue resolution
- Track key FinOps open issues tracker and ensure resolution
- Purchase Portal & Accrual Review
- Review open purchase requests and validate completeness of justifications
- Analyze and propose improvements in accrual estimation methodology
- Audit & Compliance Support
- Coordinate with local teams to gather evidence and explanations on audit queries
- Track audit recommendations and ensure timely implementation of corrective actions
- Support CFO in performing internal reviews of certain processes and GL accounts (e.g. taxes, etc.)
What we are looking for
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in finance, accounting, audit or related field roles.
- Audit firm experience is preferred.
- Knowledge of IFRS &/or OHADA accounting framework.
- Mandatory professional working fluency in French and good working knowledge of English.
- Ability and willingness to travel between Ivory Coast and Senegal.
In this role, you'll strengthen the financial control environment and enhance execution on operational finance priorities in Ivory Coast and Senegal. Fluency in French is mandatory, and while being based in either Ivory Coast or Senegal is preferred, it's not a strict requirement for this role.
