Social Media Manager - Jumia (Full Time)

The Social Media Manager will be responsible for developing and executing the social media strategy across all platforms to grow Jumia Ghana’s online presence, increase engagement, drive traffic, and support commercial performance. The role demands a highly creative, data-driven, and organized professional with a deep understanding of digital content trends, platform algorithms, and brand management in a fast-paced, highly competitive environment.

 

What you will be doing:

Strategy & Planning

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive, measurable social media strategy aligned with business goals and marketing calendar.
  • Define content pillars, target audience personas, and performance KPIs for each platform (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, X, LinkedIn, YouTube).
  • Collaborate with regional and global teams to localize campaigns and leverage content best practices.

Content Creation & Management

  • Lead content ideation, production, and curation—both organic and paid.
  • Write compelling copy, manage visuals, and oversee multimedia content development (photos, videos, infographics, reels, etc.).
  • Maintain a consistent brand voice, tone, and aesthetic across all social channels.

Community Management

  • Monitor, moderate, and respond to user comments and messages in a timely and professional manner.
  • Build and maintain a strong online community, nurturing followers and turning them into loyal customers.
  • Handle sensitive issues or complaints tactfully in collaboration with the customer service team.

Performance & Analytics

  • Track, analyze, and report weekly/monthly performance using tools like Meta Business Suite, Google Analytics, and native platform insights.
  • Optimize campaigns based on insights to improve reach, engagement, conversion, and follower growth.
  • Run A/B tests and adjust content strategy accordingly.

Campaign Execution & Support

  • Plan and execute social media content for major marketing campaigns such as Black Friday, Tech Week, and Anniversary Sales.
  • Support commercial teams by promoting key deals, new launches, and flash sales on social media.
  • Collaborate with influencers and brand partners to amplify reach.

Collaboration & Stakeholder Management

  • Work closely with the creative team, performance marketing, PR, and commercial teams to ensure alignment.
  • Manage relationships with external vendors such as photographers, videographers, and social media influencers.
  • Serve as the go-to expert for all social media-related activities within the company.

 

What we are looking for:

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or related field.
  • 3–5 years of proven experience managing social media platforms in a fast-paced business environment.
  • Solid understanding of platform algorithms, paid media basics, social commerce, and community building.
  • Proficiency in content creation tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Suite, CapCut) and social media management platforms (e.g., Hootsuite, Buffer).
  • Strong writing and editing skills with a flair for storytelling.
  • Highly organized, analytical, and performance-driven.
  • Experience in e-commerce, retail, or FMCG is a plus.
