Job Overview
The Last Mile Manager, Door Delivery leads and optimizes last-mile door delivery operations within their assigned region, managing delivery teams, hub-level performance, and third-party logistics partnerships to deliver a strong customer experience while meeting unit economics targets.
What You Will Be Doing
- Lead end-to-end door delivery operations for the assigned region, ensuring consistent service quality and on-time delivery performance.
- Oversee daily delivery operations, including route planning, driver allocation, capacity management, and delivery execution across hubs.
- Design and own the regional Last Mile unit cost strategy, balancing customer/vendor experience (CXP/VXP) targets with unit economics.
- Monitor performance against key KPIs — E2E delivery time, Pending Remittances, Closed Success Rate, Losses & Defectives, PUS Audit Score, and Customer Satisfaction — taking corrective action to meet or exceed targets.
- Lead the scale-up and expansion of last mile footprint within the region, including 3PL expansion, pickup station expansion, and Delivery Associate hiring.
- Own and manage the regional 3PL community, building and maintaining relationships with delivery partners and courier services.
- Manage and improve fleet management practices, team structure, and cost of operations within the region.
- Build a culture of best-in-class material handling across the region's last mile hubs.
- Develop and manage the regional door delivery operational budget, analyzing delivery cost per package and implementing cost-reduction strategies.
- Coach, lead, and develop hub-level team leads and delivery associates.
- Act as the regional escalation point for high-impact delivery issues, customer complaints, or operational disruptions.
- Coordinate closely with First Mile, Warehouse Operations, Transport Management, 3PL, IT/Systems, and Customer Service teams to ensure seamless regional operations.
- Utilize data analytics and dashboards to detect trends, identify bottlenecks, and drive informed regional decision-making.
- Regularly review customer feedback within the region and design improvement plans to enhance the last-mile delivery experience.
- Prepare and present regional operational reports, insights, and recommendations to senior management.
What We Are Looking For
- Experience in logistics operations, last-mile delivery, or supply chain management, including experience in a managerial or team leadership role.
- Proven experience managing last-mile delivery operations, ideally in e-commerce, courier services, or retail distribution.
- Experience managing both in-house delivery teams and third-party logistics partnerships.
- Strong understanding of last-mile logistics, fleet management, and delivery network operations.
- Good knowledge of the logistical operations in the local market is a strong plus.
- Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop diverse teams.
- Strong analytical skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and logistics tracking systems.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to make quick decisions under pressure.
- Customer-centric mindset with a commitment to delivering exceptional service.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays during peak periods.
- Must have NYSC certificate or possess a valid exemption letter.
- Candidate must be based in Port Harcourt.
