Job Overview
The Warehouse Manager owns end-to-end warehouse performance at Jumia's fulfillment center, spanning inbound, inventory, and outbound operations, driving cost efficiency, team performance, and continuous process improvement.
What You Will Be Doing
- Ensure compliance with inbound volume projections and schedules; liaise with commercial, vendor management, and finance teams on prioritization and reconciliation of items to be inbounded.
- Ensure quality checks and enforce proper packaging guidelines on all inbound items.
- Manage performance to ensure out-of-stock stays within monthly target; ensure regular cycle counts are carried out and reported.
- Continuously assess and manage storage capacity; improve picking efficiency through SKU storage standardization.
- Ensure all items from inbound, order processing, and aftersales are put away within defined SLAs.
- Organize offline sales for defective and damaged items; advise commercial teams on aged and slow-moving SKUs.
- Manage the outbound process, including pick, sort, pack, and ship of Jumia Express orders within SLA.
- Plan capacity in line with weekly volume projections; manage projection, utilization, and storage of packaging materials.
- Manage daily order transactions, ensuring smooth operations across inbound, inventory, order processing, and network teams.
- Drive performance management, including benchmarking with other countries, appraisals, and team coaching.
- Continuously find innovative ways to reduce costs across warehouse operations, including loss due to theft and damage.
- Conduct capacity planning, team allocation, and monitoring of tasks and duties.
- Conduct regular 5S audits/spot checks and provide clear feedback on findings.
- Escalate issues to senior management within an appropriate time frame and provide the head of fulfillment with end-of-day/shift handover information.
What We Are Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Logistics/Supply Chain, Economics, or Engineering; a relevant professional certification in Logistics or Supply Chain Management is an added advantage.
- Proven experience in FMCG, e-commerce, or warehouse management, including demonstrated experience managing warehouse operations at scale (multiple sub-teams: inbound, inventory, outbound, aftersales).
- Track record of managing warehouse P&L-adjacent metrics, including cost per unit, loss/write-off ratios, and operational budget adherence.
- Hands-on experience with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and inventory management software; advanced Excel skills including macros, pivot tables, and VLOOKUPs for reporting and analysis.
- Strong working knowledge of e-commerce fulfillment best practices, order lifecycle management, and customer/vendor SLA structures.
- Experience leading large, multi-shift warehouse teams, including hiring, training, performance management, and succession planning for team leads and supervisors.
- Demonstrated ability to design and enforce SOPs across multiple functional areas, with a track record of driving measurable efficiency or cost-reduction gains.
- Working knowledge of health, safety, and facility compliance standards relevant to warehouse operations.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate operational data into actionable decisions under time pressure.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, with experience coordinating across commercial, finance, vendor management, and logistics/network teams.
- Resilient and adaptable, comfortable operating in a fast-paced, high-growth environment with frequently shifting priorities
- Must have NYSC certificate or possess a valid exemption letter.
- Candidate must be based in Abuja.
