The Sorting Manager will help define and steer the line-haul strategy for company operations to maximize delivery efficiency, lower costs and ensure best practices
What you will be doing:
- Network Operations & Execution

- Inbound & Handover Management: Oversee the seamless transition of outbound and seller packages from vendor drop-off and pick-up centers into the logistics network.
- Systems Integrity: Ensure 100% scanning compliance and real-time system updates across all logistics legs to maintain total visibility of transferable units.
- Dispatch Optimization: Design and implement optimal pick-up cut-off times for 3PL partners and the controlled fleet to maximize throughput.
- Performance Monitoring: Track KPIs proactively to identify delays, alert Courier Account Managers, and implement immediate corrective measures.
- Exception & Loss Control: Take full accountability for shipment mismatches and end-to-end exception handling within the hub and transit network.
- Jumia Express Lead: Guarantee 100% same-day shipping adherence for all Jumia Express orders through rigorous process discipline.
- Capacity Building: Lead training programs for partners and hub staff to ensure the smooth adoption of new and existing operational protocols.
- Strategic Project Management
- Infrastructure Expansion: Develop data-driven business cases for new sorting hubs, including capacity modeling and volume projections.
- Facility Procurement: Lead property scouting, contract negotiations, and the acquisition of necessary operating licenses.
- CAPEX & Financial Planning: Formulate and defend CAPEX requirements for top management approval, overseeing the full procurement cycle for tools and equipment.
- Layout Design: Design and execute optimized network layouts to ensure maximum workflow efficiency.
- Resource Planning: Lead strategic capacity and manpower planning to ensure the facility is fully equipped to meet scaling demands.
What we are looking for:
- Education & Technical Proficiency
- Minimum: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Logistics, Operations, or Supply Chain Management from an accredited institution.
- Intermediate or above proficiency in Microsoft Office (Expert-level Excel is a must) and Google Workspace.
- Working knowledge of Six Sigma methodologies and Lean manufacturing techniques is highly preferred.
- Professional Experience
- Proven Track Record: Minimum of 5 years in a high-volume distribution, manufacturing, or production environment, with a specialized focus on logistics and supply chain optimization.
- Deep expertise in Transportation Logistics network management, including a thorough understanding of retail and customer service priorities.
- Hands-on experience in forecasting, capacity planning, S&OP, carrier negotiations, and delivery performance optimization.
- Demonstrated experience managing complex networks and driving large-scale operational strategies.
