System Engineer Integrator – Aircraft Integration

Aichi, Japan

Position Summary:

As a System Engineer Integrator, you will serve as the central technical hub for our aircraft integration team during a critical phase of platform development. Operating in a fast-paced post-Critical Design Review (CDR) environment, you will lead technical impact assessments for all proposed design change requests across aircraft subsystems, structures, and mechanical interfaces.

This role bridges the gap between detailed mechanical/structural design and overarching system architectures. You will ensure that late-stage design modifications are rigorously evaluated for spatial compatibility, system functionality, structural integrity, installation, configuration control, and test readiness before incorporation into the build baseline.

Key Responsibilities

  • CDR Phase Design Change Evaluation:
    • Lead technical impact assessments for Design Change Requests (DCRs) and Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) post-CDR with design and systems teams.
    • Evaluate the "ripple effect" of proposed mechanical and structural design changes on aircraft mass properties, design configuration management, cost, schedule, system performance, certification for critical program decisions.
  • Cross-Disciplinary Integration & Interface Control:
    • Serve as the primary integration interface between mechanical, structural, avionics, and electrical engineering disciplines.
    • Define, update, and manage Interface Control Documents (ICDs) to resolve physical and functional interface conflicts.
    • Conduct technical trade studies to balance competing design constraints and establish viable compromise solutions.
  • Configuration & Baseline Management:
    • Enforce strict Configuration Management (CM) principles to maintain product baseline integrity across all change cycles.
    • Track, document, and support evidence presentation to Change Control Boards (CCB) and technical leadership for critical decision-making.
  • Verification, Validation & Test Support:
    • Analyze the impact of design changes on qualification test plans, iron bird/rig testing, and flight test baselines.
    • Collaborate with test teams to update verification strategies for re-designed components and integrated sub-systems.

Qualifications & Key Requirements

  • Education: Master’s degree in mechanical engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a closely related technical field.
  • Experience: minimum 3 to 5 years of hands-on experience in aircraft systems engineering, structural/mechanical design, or aircraft integration within an aerospace OEM or major Tier-1 supplier.
  • Technical Expertise:
    • Solid foundational background in structural design and mechanical systems integration.
    • Direct experience performing formal design change impact assessments on complex airborne platforms.
    • Strong analytical skills and ability for Problem solving & root-cause analysis
    • Practical understanding of Configuration Management (CM) workflows and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) tools (e.g., Teamcenter, Windchill, Enovia).
    • Familiarity with qualification standards, interface management, and system-level test workflows.
    • Capacity to work in fast-paced environments with evolving requirements.
