So, what do we do in Legal & Compliance?

We keep the engine running smoothly behind the scenes at JOE. From risk management & contract reviews to GDPR & third-party due diligence, we make sure the business understands its obligations while still moving fast.

As a member of our Legal & Compliance team, you will gain insight into how legal advisory works & compliance frameworks & risk management support decision-making within a global organisation. The role will give you hands-on experience across areas such as enterprise risk management, commercial legal support, international data privacy, third-party due diligence, & insurance governance. You’ll get active involvement with commercial contracts, policies, & real-world regulatory challenges that shape business decisions.

As a trainee in our Legal, Risk & Compliance team, you will work across both the legal and compliance functions, gaining broad insight into how legal advice, compliance frameworks & risk management support a global business.

Overview of the role:

  • Supporting the Legal & Compliance team in daily operations & long-term projects
  • Assisting with legal workstreams, including contract review, legal research, corporate documentation & commercial legal support
  • Ensuring accuracy & quality in compliance-related data & documentation
  • Contributing to the development & improvement of internal processes & systems
  • Assisting with regulatory compliance efforts across multiple jurisdictions

 

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting both the Legal & Compliance functions on daily tasks, ad hoc matters & longer-term projects
  • Supporting migration of risk registers & data privacy assessments from Excel & Word to ERM & data privacy software
  • Assisting with legal workstreams, including contract review, Data Protection Agreements, internal templates & legal research
  • Supporting GDPR & data privacy work, including legitimate interest assessments, Data Privacy Impact Assessments & privacy documentation
  • Supporting practical legal & corporate housekeeping tasks, including document execution, notarisation, apostille/legalisation processes, filings & coordination of signatures
  • Assisting with commercial contracts, including partnership agreements, leases, supplier and service agreements, NDAs & data processing agreements
  • Maintaining & updating our online data privacy, due diligence & ERM databases & central risk registers
  • Assisting in updating & creating online risk & compliance training
  • Reviewing due diligence documentation from third party vendors
  • Drafting & updating internal compliance templates, checklists, policies & processes
  • Conducting ongoing legal research on updates to global data privacy, ethics & due diligence regulations
  • Maintaining & updating insurance portfolio overview & documentation repository

Key Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Law or Business Law, with an interest in commercial contracts, compliance, data privacy & risk
  • Detail oriented, strong analytical skills & strong IT skills
  • Not afraid of repetitive data-quality tasks (data hygiene is part of the role)
  • Able to interpret & understand global legal & regulatory material
  • Keen interest in governance, risk, compliance, privacy, insurance & broader legal/compliance matters
  • Strong Excel skills (tracking, filtering, reconciliation, basic formulas)
  • Professional level oral & written English

 

Standout candidates will have:

  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines simultaneously
  • Experience working with policies, regulatory documentation or prior internship in compliance, legal or audit
  • Interest in process optimisation, legal tech, digital tools & structured ways of working
  • Experience creating structured trackers or databases
  • Interest in building a career in Legal, Compliance, Risk Management, Insurance, Corporate Governance or Data Protection
