WHY WORK AT JOE & THE JUICE

JOE & THE JUICE is a people-centric food and beverage company built around culture, not just juice, sandwiches, coffee, and much more. When joining us, you step into a high-energy community where the music is loud, the bar is your stage, and your personality matters as much as your skills.

We believe in four simple virtues that shape everything we do:

  • Positive Attitude
  • Inclusion
  • Social Ties
  • Growth

For us, this means that when you choose a cup-half-full mindset, welcome people from every background, build real friendships across the bar by creating great guest experiences, and use every shift as a chance to learn something new, you become more than just a Juicer; like us, you continue to search and find purpose and meaning in what you do.

From your first day, you’ll be part of an international network of Juicers who support each other, celebrate wins together, and push each other to grow. You will learn by doing, move through our Moneyball career path, our internal system that tracks your performance and fast-tracks you toward promotion, and be part of a company where most leaders have earned their stripes behind the bar (fun fact: over 75% of our employees started as Juicers!).

If you love fast-paced service, music, people, and the idea of turning a job into a lifestyle, JOE can become a place to build skills, friendships, and a career that can take you across cities, countries, and roles.

JOB SUMMARY

As Senior Manager Tax, you're the senior tax leader for the JOE & THE JUICE Group, with global responsibility across all our markets, from Europe to the US to the Middle East (Franchise). Based at our Copenhagen HQ and reporting to the VP of External Reporting, Controlling and Tax, you'll build and lead a best-in-class in-house tax function from the ground up. You'll own everything from corporate income tax and cross-border structuring to VAT, indirect taxes and withholding, keeping us compliant while finding the planning opportunities that support how fast we're growing. Success looks like a tax function that scales with the business, defensible positions in every jurisdiction, and a team that grows under your leadership. This position is full-time.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Build and lead a best-in-class corporate tax function, developing the skillsets of the team around you.
  • Own worldwide direct tax compliance, preparing and reviewing all local and Group income tax returns with support from third-party consultants.
  • Oversee business-related filings, including property and other local tax returns across relevant jurisdictions.
  • Lead indirect tax across all markets, including European VAT, US sales tax, nexus analysis and product taxability.
  • Prepare the consolidated quarterly and annual income tax provision, and the IFRIC 23 and ASC 740 control framework behind it.
  • Coordinate global transfer pricing documentation, master and local files, and monitor country-by-country reporting thresholds.
  • Assist Treasury on cross-border cash remittance and repatriation, and adherence to global transfer pricing policies.
  • Drive technology and process improvements, and collaborate with the internal control team to establish an internal control framework.
  • Partner with Finance and Legal on new entities and one-off transactions.
  • Lead tax audits and inquiries from government authorities, working closely with external advisors.
  • Provide ad hoc support on various projects.

WHO YOU ARE

  • You're a hands-on leader who delegates well and is just as comfortable doing the work yourself.
  • You're self-driven and accountable, bringing a sense of urgency when it's needed and staying organized when several things land at once.
  • You're analytical and detail-oriented by instinct, but you can step back and explain the implications to people who don't live in tax.
  • You're comfortable holding confidential matters and build genuine relationships across functions and borders.
  • You're curious enough to keep learning as the rules keep changing.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or a related field.
  • CPA, CA or an equivalent professional qualification.
  • 10-12 years of international tax experience from a Big 4 firm and/or a multinational corporation.
  • Proven ability to design, grow and lead a tax department.
  • Proven ability to independently lead and execute multiple projects at once.
  • Strong knowledge of international tax, transfer pricing (including OECD BEPS and Pillar Two) and cross-border structuring.
  • Solid tax accounting and compliance experience, with familiarity in US GAAP tax accounting (ASC 740) considered an advantage given our US presence.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage and influence executive management and international stakeholders.
  • Advanced Excel and accounting/ERP proficiency, experience with tax provisioning software is a plus.

OUR BENEFITS

This is a rare chance to build a global tax function rather than inherit one, with full ownership across more than 20 countries and direct exposure to executive leadership. You'll develop both professionally and personally through our Moneyball career system. On top of a paid pension plan, health insurance, parental leave and additional vacation, you'll enjoy JOE-ified perks like:

  • Our global headquarters in the heart of beautiful Copenhagen, where 200+ friendly faces come together.
  • Fantastic office facilities, including a fully staffed JOE & THE JUICE bar serving breakfast, daily lunch, refreshing juices and top notch barista coffee.
  • A flat hierarchy that values every opinion, creating space for your ideas to thrive.
  • A lively monthly social calendar, running club, wine tasting, creative evenings, Friday bars and more.
  • Twice a year, a BTC (Behind the Counter) shift in one of our bars, a unique part of the JOE experience.
  • Well equipped fitness facilities, including showers and a steam room.
