Sourcing Assistant

Working within the JD private label team at the head office in Bury, you will be part of a busy design and development office and interact with external departments and businesses across the Group.

JD private labels are an integral part of the JD retail offering, and these labels are designed, developed, and manufactured in house and our teams on these labels are targeted with the growth of sustainability throughout the business.

·       Job Title – Sourcing Assistant

·       Location – JD Group, Hollinsbrook Way, Pilsworth, Bury, BL9 8RR.

·       Working rota – Monday to Friday.

·       Working hours – 40 Hours per Week.

What You'll Be Doing:

As a Sourcing Assistant , you'll be doing the following: 

  • Cross-costing and benchmarking with new suppliers on Own Brand product, in line with the sourcing strategy.
  • Assist the development teams with sample development with new potential suppliers.
  • Support Sourcing Partners in delivering departmental global strategy.
  • Attend seasonally sourcing meetings across all Own Brands to gain an understanding supplier performance and highlight any gaps.
  • Annual & Quarterly brand & supplier performance KPI reports.
  • Prepare analysis reports and attend Own Brand last season reviews with the buying/merchandising teams.
  • Monitor & analyse weekly faulty returns report to highlight any potential quality issues and liaise with Developers.
  • Build relationships and maintain an open dialogue with suppliers, ensuring they are supported with new & upcoming projects.
  • Stakeholder in the implementation of the own brand sustainabilty startegy
  • Co-ordinate supplier visits/meetings with the development teams.
  • Manage the tracking of recycled material Certificates within the supply chain, performing due-dilligence to verify our recycled material usage.
  • Responsible for the tracking/management of our better cotton transactions on the Better Cotton Platform
  • Assist on JD Own Brands annual cotton consumption submission to Better Cotton.
  • Be a direct support the Own Brand Sourcing Manager
  • Use Canva (or similar) to build presentations for the souring and sustainability team.
  • Assist in wider department projects and work cross functionally to support the wider department.
  • Stakeholder in the implementation of Digital Product Passports with external strategic partner.
  • Produced & maintain fabric library document to ensure there is visibility/transparency of material usage within Private Label product.
  • Coordinate the Digitalisation of fabrics for 3D Design project.
  • Work with Own Brand Design to create business trend reports for sustainabilty trends.
  • Support with franchise growth by providing detailed country profiles for new territories.
