Linux Architect
The Linux Architect will work with the Enterprise Architect, business leaders, and IT subject matter experts, to ensure that the Linux based infrastructure is aligned with the needs of IT and of the business.
In a constantly and rapidly changing environment, the Linux Architect will drive value for money by analysing the business strategy and intended goals, ensuring that the company’s Linux infrastructure can evolve to meet new requirements and add value wherever possible.

What You'll Be Doing:
As a Linux Architect, you'll be doing the following:
- You will be responsible for creating and maintaining the long-term Linux infrastructure roadmap, and will work with the Enterprise Architect on the JD Enterprise Architecture and overall IT Roadmap.
- You will oversee the architecture of the Linux infrastructure and will ensure that changes are implemented according to IT strategy, operating system and security best practices, and are supportable over the longer term.
- You will work with the Linux Team Manager to set priorities for the Linux System Administration team, aligning them with the roadmap, and to plan for future growth and development.
- In addition, the Linux Architect should be a technical leader in their field, acting as a technical escalation point for the Linux Team Manager, the Linux System Administration team, the IT Service Desk, the Enterprise Architect, and IT project managers.
What We're Looking For:
- Experience of working in an ITIL environment, understanding how the end to end processes work across the organisation.
- An appreciation of ERP solutions, standards, tools and techniques.
- Familiarity with Subversion and other revision control systems.
- Familiarity with the C programming language and associated toolchain.
- Experience in a retail environment.
