Senior Analyst- C4ISR

Job purpose: 

Janes is seeking an India/Bangalore‑based Senior Analyst with broad exposure to Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (C4ISR) systems to join our team. This role is suited to an inquisitive, adaptable analyst who is comfortable working across multiple C4ISR domains.

How you will contribute at Janes: 

In this role, you will support Janes global intelligence products by delivering accurate, current, and well‑structured analysis across the full C4ISR spectrum. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing analytical coverage across C4ISR domains, including communications systems, radars, electro‑optic/infrared (EO/IR) sensors, sonars, and command‑and‑control architectures.
  • Conducting primary research and analysis.
  • Maintaining the currency, accuracy, and consistency of Janes C4ISR datasets and records for global customers.
  • Producing written outputs such as analysis pieces, news, and background research, as well as contributing to webinars through research, content development, and delivery.
  • Reviewing and updating system imagery and visual references to ensure alignment with current configurations and capabilities.
  • Working closely with analysts in India and the UK, as well as Janes news team, to ensure coherent and timely coverage across regions and domains.

The ideal skills and experience for this role are: 

We are looking for candidates with strong analytical fundamentals and intellectual curiosity. The ideal candidate will have:

  • Broad familiarity with military C4ISR systems, with the ability to understand how different sensors, networks, and command elements interact.
  • A strong interest in defence and military technology, with a willingness to research unfamiliar systems or concepts.
  • An inquisitive mindset, including the ability to question sources, identify gaps, and synthesise information across domains.
  • Excellent written and spoken English, with the ability to clearly explain technical information to a non‑specialist audience.
  • Comfort working with structured specifications, databases, and data‑rich environments.
  • Strong organisation and time‑management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast‑paced setting.

A demonstrated interest in the defence domain is essential. While prior experience with C4ISR systems is important, training will be provided in Janes research methods, tools, and editorial standards to support your development in the role.
