Job purpose:
Janes Group US continues its market expansion in the US and Americas markets, Janes is seeking a high-caliber, dynamic, results-oriented pre-sales engineer with intelligence analysis experience to join our team at Janes.
As a pre-sales engineer, you will drive business growth by understanding customer needs, providing technical solutions, and effectively articulating the value of our products or services to the customer’s mission. Your role will be pivotal in effectively communicating how Janes adds measurable value to the customer’s goals and support technical discussions related to the Janes online customer portal, Janes API, Janes products, and the underlying Janes knowledge graph; with the end goal of helping to develop and maintain relationships to build trust. This is a key role in Janes growth plans and the successful candidate will have an opportunity to influence how we leverage and grow the pre-sales engineer function as we scale growth in our US and Americas business unit.
Reporting into the Vice President of Sales, you will be the resident expert in how intelligence analysts use and benefit from Janes product offerings. You will be required to speak to and demonstrate how Janes can be integrated into existing user workflows, 3rd party systems, and various analysis tools. This is a highly visible role providing great freedom, challenge and accountability, within a growing and dynamic team, focusing on the growth of our key market and strategic main effort for our business.
How you will contribute at Janes:
- Study customer needs, pain points and business challenges and create a customized sales proposal with the sales team
- Provide technical expertise and guidance to customers throughout the sales process.
- Conduct product demonstrations and deliver compelling presentations to showcase value of our solutions.
- Collaborate with the sales team to identify and qualify sales opportunities.
- Develop and maintain strong customer relationships to increase customer satisfaction and loyalty.
- Contribute to sales strategies, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations based on technical considerations
- Understand our product/service's technical features, functionalities and benefits
- Provide pre-sales support by answering technical inquiries and participating in sales meetings
- Liaise with the product solution engineering team to address technical concerns or requirements
- Build strong relationships and collaborate with internal teams to gather technical requirements and ensure the successful implementation of solutions
- Give active feedback and insights from the market to the product development and marketing team
- Participate in sales meetings, trade shows and industry events to promote our products or services
- Stay updated on industry trends, market dynamics and competitor offerings
- Couple your knowledge of Janes products and propositions along with your strong understanding of the needs of the intelligence community and analysts; their missions and challenges, to continuously position Janes at the forefront of customer decision-making processes
The ideal skills and experience for this role are:
- 2+ years of experience as a sales engineer or in a similar technical sales role for software or data solutions.
- Strong technical background and ability to understand complex technical concepts and effectively communicate them to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Demonstrable experience in interacting at a mid to senior level position within the military or government space.
- Demonstrable experience in presenting technical products and services to customers, providing expert advice and troubleshooting customer queries
- Demonstrable experience related to Intelligence and Analysis use cases or missions (i.e. former military intelligence specialist).
- Previous experience of building relationships within military / national security sectors and understanding their mission needs and how that would align with Janes offerings.
- Ability to work with a global team across business functions, including marketing, customer success, and product teams.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build rapport and establish strong relationships with customers and internal teams
- Outstanding oral and written communication skills.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to identify customer needs and propose innovative solution
- Self-motivated and target-driven with a proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets and driving revenue growth
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Proficiency with MS applications required (Excel, Word and PowerPoint).
- Travel: 25%
Preferred experience:
- Experience working with and/or selling open-source data or complex software.
- Experience creating technical content, such as whitepapers or technical blog posts
- Strong negotiation and persuasion skills
- Experience working with cross-functional teams, including product development and marketing
- Security Clearance is a plus.
