Intern, Composite Manufacturing Engineering (m/f/d)
Mission Brief
As an Intern within our Composite Production Engineering team, you will support the manufacturing of advanced carbon composite structures for our Spectrum launch vehicle. Working closely with experienced engineers, you will contribute to material and production testing, process optimization, and the industrialization of new products and manufacturing processes. This internship offers hands-on experience in a fast-paced aerospace environment, providing valuable exposure to composite manufacturing technologies, production engineering, and cross-functional collaboration.
Your Role in Our Space Mission:
- Support material and production testing activities for composite manufacturing processes
- Assist in the industrialization of new products and manufacturing processes
- Identify and support the implementation of process optimization opportunities
- Support the creation and maintenance of work instructions and manufacturing documentation
Qualification Checklist
- Currently enrolled in a BSc program in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
- Basic knowledge of composite materials and manufacturing processes gained through university coursework, student projects, or personal interest
- Hands-on experience from university projects or student teams (e.g., Formula Student, rocketry, UAVs) is a plus
- Basic exposure to composite manufacturing methods such as hand layup, vacuum bagging, sandwich structures, or autoclave processing
- Basic understanding of engineering drawings and technical documentation
- Analytical mindset with good problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment
- Motivated, proactive, and eager to learn in a hands-on production setting
- Good communication skills in English (written and spoken); German is a plus
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and CAD software (e.g., CATIA, Siemens NX, SolidWorks, or similar) is advantageous
