Supply Chain Management Specialist / Transport Logistics (m/f/d)
Mission Brief
As a buyer responsible for organizing the transports, you will drive the efficient and reliable movement of goods and materials across national and international locations, ensuring seamless logistics operations within our supply chain. You will collaborate with internal stakeholders and external partners to schedule transportation, negotiate contracts, manage documentation, and uphold compliance with industry standards. Your proactive approach to optimizing costs, tracking performance, and maintaining deadlines will directly support our mission to deliver high-quality aerospace products, on time and on budget.
Your Role in Our Space Mission:
- Plan, direct, and coordinate the transportation, storage, and distribution of goods and services, both nationally and internationally.
- Schedule timely transportation services and monitor shipments to ensure goods reach their destinations as planned.
- Select appropriate means of transport and arrange logistics with nominated carriers, brokers, and freight forwarders for land, sea, and air freight.
- Explain and negotiate contract terms with drivers and other vendors to secure favorable agreements.
- Generate, process, and administer detailed transportation documents and invoices, ensuring all documentation is accurately completed, properly stored, and maintained for full traceability and audit purposes.
- Track transportation budgets and expenses, maintaining cost targets and performance control of service providers.
- Develop, implement, and maintain transportation policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with industry regulations, plant standards, and shipping requirements.
- Establish priorities, track assignments, and ensure availability of resources needed for efficient operations.
- Maintain schedules and deadlines for all transport activities.
- Work collaboratively with loading and warehouse personnel to meet shipment goals and optimize logistics processes.
Qualification Checklist
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a related field
- Proven experience in transport organization, logistics, or freight purchasing (national and international)
- Strong understanding of transportation regulations and industry standards (land, sea, and air freight)
- Experience with contract negotiation and vendor management
- Solid knowledge of customs procedures, exim (export/import) processes, export control regulations, and handling of dangerous goods
- Excellent organizational and multitasking skills, with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
- Analytical mindset with strong attention to detail and cost optimization
- Effective communication skills in English (written and spoken);
- Ability to work collaboratively with internal teams and external partners
- Problem-solving skills and a proactive, solution-oriented approach
Bonus Skills
- Proficiency in using logistics and ERP systems (e.g., SAP) would be a plus
- German language skills are a plus
