The Role

We are seeking an ambitious, enthusiastic, and highly motivated Windows Systems Engineer to join our dynamic Infrastructure team at our London office. As we have experienced significant growth over the past 5 years, our technology needs to scale accordingly to support this expansion. We are currently at an exciting inflection point as our business expands horizontally into other asset classes, presenting new challenges for our technology platform and Infrastructure team. To tackle these challenges, automation plays a crucial role in our strategy, enabling us to rapidly deliver solutions and overcome obstacles. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of experience in a Windows-based role, demonstrate a strong preference for automation over GUI-driven administration, and be comfortable using PowerShell alongside infrastructure-as-code and configuration management tools such as Terraform and Ansible to build, configure, and manage scalable, repeatable environments.

They must be a proactive self-starter, capable of taking initiative, displaying natural curiosity, and possessing the skills to continuously identify areas for improvement. By implementing scalable solutions through automation, they will contribute to enhancing our efficiency

Key Responsibilities: 

• Extensive expertise in the Windows stack, encompassing AD design, GPOs, DFS, DNS, DHCP, and other related components.
• Strong proficiency in PowerShell scripting for automating tasks and operational processes, complemented by hands-on experience using Ansible for configuration management, including bare-metal server builds and ongoing configuration using Ansible Galaxy roles where appropriate.
• Proven experience in managing VMware ESX clusters, ensuring optimal performance, scalability, and resource allocation.
• Strong experience using Terraform to define, provision, and manage infrastructure-as-code, including AWS EC2 provisioning, and managing EC2 instances post-deployment using AWS Systems Manager (Session Manager, Patch Manager, Automation).
• Hands-on experience designing, implementing, and operating server backup and recovery solutions using Veeam, ensuring data protection, recoverability, and compliance with business requirements.
• Solid understanding of networking technologies, enabling seamless integration and effective troubleshooting within complex environments.
• Possesses a security-first mindset, consistently upholding security standards across the infrastructure and confident in challenging conventional practices when improvements can be made.
• Demonstrates a strong appetite for continuous learning, proactively identifying opportunities for improvement and professional growth.
• Capable of translating ideas and concepts into actionable plans, collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams to drive successful implementation.
