About The Role

As Director of Engineering, you will serve as both a strategic and operational leader in launching Invisible’s first engineering hub in Poland, ideally based in Warsaw. You will be tasked with building the office from the ground up, shaping its culture, spearheading talent acquisition, and ensuring robust technical execution.

Acting as a key liaison between regional operations and global strategy, you will also contribute directly to engineering initiatives while helping scale our platform and team across multiple disciplines. This is a unique opportunity to combine hands-on engineering with site leadership and long-term organizational impact.

What You’ll Do

  • Launch and lead the Poland engineering hub, overseeing office setup, team development, and cultural foundations.
  • Partner with recruiting and engineering leadership to identify, hire, and retain top technical talent in Poland.
  • Serve as the senior technical anchor, contributing hands-on to projects and ensuring alignment with engineering standards and company goals.
  • Build a collaborative and successful engineering culture by leading, sharing best practices, and offering chances for growth.
  • Establish Invisible's presence in the Polish tech market. Network and seek opportunities for partnerships.
  • Help prioritize local engineering projects in collaboration with global product and platform teams.
  • Advocate for the region’s operational needs while upholding Invisible’s remote-first but office-positive philosophy.
  • Ensure site-wide adherence to security, quality, and performance standards across projects.
  • Align, motivate, and inspire individuals across teams, even those you don’t directly manage, through credibility, strong communication, and relationship-building.

What We Need

  • 10+ years in software engineering with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
  • Experience setting up and scaling a new engineering office or hub, ideally in a global or remote-first company.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and manage high-performing, multidisciplinary teams.
  • Deep local knowledge of the Polish tech market, universities, talent pools, and community dynamics.
  • Exemplary communication skills, with experience collaborating across functions and time zones.
  • A hands-on leader with a proven track record of both technical delivery and strategic influence.
  • Comfortable working in a hybrid role that balances team management, office leadership, and direct engineering contribution.
  • Experience with full-stack development (desirable but not essential experience in: Python, JavaScript, React, and Django).
