About the Role
We are looking for an In-House IT Manager to own the day-to-day IT operation end to end. This role is responsible for keeping the internal IT landscape reliable, predictable, and well run across sites, while leading a small, distributed team.
This is an ownership role. You are expected to make decisions, set standards, and be accountable for outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
Team leadership
- Lead and manage a distributed in-house IT team of 4
- Set priorities, ensure delivery, and provide clear escalation paths
- Establish a stable operating rhythm and clear ownership
IT operations
- Own the internal IT environment end to end, based primarily on Microsoft 365
- Ensure reliable user lifecycle management; joiners, movers, leavers
- Act as escalation point for complex or high-impact issues
- Maintain service quality across devices, identity, and collaboration tooling
Identity and platform
- Operate and improve M365, Entra ID, Exchange, and Active Directory
- Ensure access is managed securely and consistently
- Partner with Security and Infrastructure where boundaries overlap
Automation and engineering
- Use PowerShell as a core tool to automate operational work
- Reduce manual effort and error through scripting and standardisation
- Maintain scripts in a controlled, versioned way (GitHub)
Procurement and vendors
- Own IT procurement; devices, accessories, services
- Work with vendors and resellers; quotes, renewals, delivery tracking
- Balance cost, risk, and operational needs
Process, policy, and documentation
- Define and maintain IT processes and internal policies
- Ensure documentation, runbooks, and procedures are current and followed
- Support audits and internal reviews where required
Requirements and Qualifications:
- Proven experience running an in-house IT function or similar scope
- Strong, practical PowerShell skills
- Deep experience with Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Exchange, and identity management
- Comfortable owning operations end to end, including escalation and decision-making
- Experience with IT procurement and vendor management
- Process-driven mindset; documentation and policies matter
