About the Role
As Communications Manager (External), you will work closely with the CCO and other key members of ICE’s senior team, to lead and deliver key elements of ICE’s external communications and marketing strategy. You’ll manage PR activities, media relations, event support, and digital content to elevate the ICE brand, amplify key announcements, and drive thought leadership in the music rights industry. You’ll also work closely with external agencies and internal teams to ensure consistency and quality across all communication touchpoints.

Key Responsibilities:
External Communications
- Act as the main contact for the PR agency, coordinating planning, briefings, approvals, and distribution for press releases.
- Develop and maintain media lists; provide feedback and strategic input for media targeting.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to identify thought leadership opportunities and content.
- Lead the creation of briefing documents, Q&As, and media prep for interviews and announcements.
- Drive brand awareness through the execution of PR strategies including product launches (e.g. Cube) and high-visibility stories.
- Support the development of creative assets and narratives in coordination with production teams.
Digital Content
- Collaborate closely with the Internal Communications Manager on LinkedIn content and strategy, providing input and support for externally focused posts and announcements.
- Ensure timely updates to the ICE website, particularly for press releases, blogs, and other external-facing content.
- Brief and liaise with graphic designers to develop visuals and marketing assets that support external communication goals.
Events and Speaking Engagements
- Support planning and execution of key industry events (e.g. The Ivors, SXSW, Music Ally Publishing Summit).
- Manage speaker briefings, event presentations, and support logistics as needed.
- Coordinate ICE’s presence at events, including sponsorships, submissions, and attendance follow-ups.
Administrative Tasks
- Track budgets and process invoices and contracts (e.g. PR agency, event partnerships).
- Maintain supplier documentation and support contract workflows.
- Support with the management and administration of publication subscriptions for the Commercial team and wider business.
- Help develop and implement a new process for staff attendance at industry events, including the coordination and purchasing of tickets.
- Work with Customer Relationship Managers to facilitate end of year gifting and other client engagements where applicable.
- Contribute to development and maintenance of brand guidelines and visual identity.
Requirements and Qualifications:
Required
- Experience in external communications, PR, or marketing, preferably within media, entertainment or tech sectors.
- Strong writing and editing skills with an eye for detail.
- Excellent project management and organisational skills — able to juggle multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Comfortable working with external partners and internal senior stakeholders.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with social media platforms and CMS tools (e.g. WordPress).
- Fluent English language skills (written and spoken).
Desirable
- Experience in B2B communications or the music rights industry.
- Confidence briefing spokespeople and preparing media-facing materials.
- Familiarity with Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, InDesign).
- Understanding of employer branding or internal comms strategies.
