Team Leader (Server Engineering)

This role is essential to the stability, growth, and continuous improvement of our Linux-based core infrastructure services. You will be responsible for leading the Server Engineering team, combining hands-on technical expertise with people management and delivery oversight. The role plays a key part in ensuring operational excellence and driving architectural evolution, while actively collaborating with cross-functional teams such as Product Management, QA, DevOps, and Engineering to deliver high-impact infrastructure solutions.

The role is based in our office in Limassol, Cyprus. In case of relocation, we offer full relocation support for you and your family to make your move smooth and worry-free.

What you'll actually do

  • Build and grow the team by hiring diverse talent and ensuring smooth onboarding and mentorship.
  • Lead and inspire by fostering collaboration, engagement, and a high-performance culture, motivating the team to achieve and exceed results while leading by example and engaging directly in operational challenges when needed.
  • Develop and support people through coaching, feedback, regular performance reviews, and tailored growth planning.
  • Take ownership and make decisions with accountability and timely, informed judgment, translate company goals into clear team priorities and roles.
  • Serve as a link between technical teams and non-technical stakeholders; interact with other team leaders or teams to identify interconnections between products and build compatible architecture.
  • Participate in technical planning and reporting processes, and set goals for the team.
  • Develop detailed project plans and timelines, manage resources, and monitor progress within the team.
  • Participate in tactical planning cycles and ensure plans are delivered in time and in accordance with company standards.
  • Drive the assessment and implementation of technologies and tools in the team.
  • Proactively identify and mitigate technical and project-related risks.
  • Act as a change agent to support organizational changes and implement management decisions.
  • Ensure technical debt is continuously identified, prioritized, and paid within agreed quotas.
  • Support the incident management process within the area of responsibility.
  • Take responsibility for analyzing and resolving product incidents and implementing changes to predict and prevent future incidents.
  • Independently solve technical problems that match own expertise.
  • Take a product approach to managing the team’s backlog.
  • Ensure all SLIs have proper thresholds and SLOs, dependencies are mapped, and their states are visible through dashboards and CMDB.

Who we’re looking for

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Relevant certifications in software architecture, agile methodologies (e.g., Scrum, SAFe), or cloud technologies (e.g., AWS, Azure) are considered as an advantage.
  • Cloud Native / Linux Professional Institute / Red Hat certifications is a plus.
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience working with Linux infrastructure, including 2+ years in a leadership or mentorship role.
  • Track record of managing the performance and development of highly skilled engineers, including senior and lead positions.
  • RHEL / Debian expertise.
  • Expertise and hands-on experience with core infrastructure services.
  • Hands-on experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience working with monitoring, logging, and performance tools.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to mentor, coach, and motivate engineers.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Empathy, patience, and the ability to resolve conflicts constructively.
