This is an opportunity to join an innovative UK-based semiconductor technology company as a Field Service Engineer / Customer Support Engineer supporting high-value semiconductor metrology systems across South Korea.

Based in Cheongju-si, Chungcheongbuk-do, you'll become the critical technical link between customers, local service partners, and the engineering teams in the UK. This role combines hands-on engineering, customer support, fault diagnosis, installation, training and relationship management in one of the world's most exciting semiconductor markets.

The Opportunity

As a Field Service Engineer, Semiconductor Equipment Engineer, Customer Support Engineer, or Applications Support Engineer, you'll be responsible for ensuring customer systems remain operational, reliable and performing at their best.

Typical responsibilities include:

  • Installing semiconductor and scientific instrumentation at customer sites
  • Performing preventative maintenance and corrective maintenance activities
  • Diagnosing and resolving complex electrical, mechanical and system-level faults
  • Carrying out equipment upgrades and product enhancements
  • Supporting customers remotely and on-site
  • Monitoring equipment performance, reliability and uptime
  • Acting as the technical interface between customers and UK engineering teams
  • Training and mentoring distributor and partner service organisations
  • Building long-term relationships with customer engineering teams and management
  • Providing valuable customer feedback to support future product improvements

Location: Cheongju-si, Chungcheongbuk-do, South Korea

Travel: Approximately 20% across Asia and occasional visits to the UK.

What We're Looking For

We are particularly interested in engineers from:

  • Semiconductor equipment
  • Semiconductor metrology systems
  • Wafer inspection tools
  • Capital equipment manufacturing
  • Scientific instrumentation
  • Analytical instruments
  • Precision engineering systems
  • Medical devices
  • Photonics, optics or laser systems

You will ideally have:

  • 2+ years' experience in a Field Service Engineer, Technical Support Engineer, Service & Repair Engineer or Customer Support role
  • Experience troubleshooting complex electromechanical systems
  • Strong customer-facing experience
  • Fluency in both Korean and English
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities
  • Flexibility to respond quickly to customer requirements, including occasional out-of-hours support
  • Full driving licence and legal right to work in South Korea

Highly Desirable

Experience with any of the following would be particularly attractive:

  • Semiconductor manufacturing equipment
  • Semiconductor metrology systems
  • Wafer inspection or process control tools
  • Optical systems
  • Laser technology
  • Precision motion control systems
  • Vacuum systems
  • Robotics and automated equipment
  • Advanced system-level fault finding

Qualifications

You may hold a degree in:

  • Engineering
  • Electronic Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Mechatronics
  • Physics

Or you may have gained equivalent expertise through apprenticeships, military technical training, field service experience, or hands-on industry experience.
