Performance Engineer – Digital Assets

As a Performance Engineer on IMC’s crypto team, you will work on optimizing the latency, throughput and reliability of trading systems and infrastructure. You will work closely with developers and traders to identify and eliminate bottlenecks, improve real-time performance and ensure our systems remain competitive and resilient across volatile markets.

Your Core Responsibilities
- Analyse the performance characteristics of trading systems, including networking, storage and compute layers
- Develop tools to profile, benchmark and monitor low-latency applications and data pipelines
- Identify and address system inefficiencies and architectural bottlenecks
- Collaborate with engineers to improve code paths, system design and runtime configurations
- Guide optimization strategies for on-chain and off-chain components in crypto trading systems
- Exchange microstructure analysis

Your Skills and Experience

Required:

- Strong academic and vocational background in systems engineering, computer architecture and low-latency system design
- Proficiency in performance profiling tools
- Deep knowledge of Linux systems, networking stacks and hardware optimization
- Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills
- Experience with high-frequency or crypto trading systems
- Familiarity with containerization and real-time monitoring tools like Grafana
- Strong programming skills in C++

Nice to have: 

- Understanding of blockchain node performance and DeFi protocol latency
- Strong programming skills in Rust, and scripting skills in Python

Location and Office Culture

- IMC office in Zug, Switzerland
- Note that this is an onsite role, with some but limited flexibility for working from home
