Status: Permanent, Full-time

Reporting to: Chief Financial Officer

Job Purpose:  

The FP&A Business Partner plays a critical role in supporting the Foundation’s financial planning and decision-making by providing high-quality analysis of expenditure and cost drivers.  

Working closely with the CFO, Executive leadership, and budget holders, this role ensures P&L and in particular expenditure forecasts are robust, risks and opportunities are clearly identified, and management receives timely and actionable insights. The FP&A Business Partner also contributes to the development of financial models, dashboards, and KPIs, supporting the organisation’s long-term sustainability. 

Principal accountabilities:   

Reporting & Insight 

  • Prepare clear, concise P&L and expenditure reports for the CFO, Executive leadership, department heads and Trustees. 
  • Work with the FP&A accountant and broader finance team to develop dashboards and automated reporting tools. 
  • Liaise with Finance Ops and Financial Control teams to ensure accurate and timely accounting data. 

Forecasting and budgeting: 

  • Lead on the preparation of expenditure budgets in partnership with Leadership, Operations and Program teams. 
  • Build rolling forecasts that reflect current commitments, savings opportunities, and future funding scenarios. Develop long-range financial plans and budgets aligned with the company's strategic objectives. 

Performance analysis:  

  • Analyse variances against budget/forecast and provide clear explanations. 
  • Monitor expenditure KPIs and track delivery against financial plans. 
  • Provide scenario modelling to support decision-making. 

Business partnership:  

  • Act as the main point of contact for expenditure-related financial support across the organisation. 
  • Collaborate with business leaders to support their financial decision-making and strategic initiatives.  
  • Challenge and support budget holders to ensure financial discipline and accountability. 
  • Provide insights to inform resource allocation, cost control, and efficiency initiatives. 

Process & Risk: 

  • Work with the wider finance team to improve planning, reporting, and forecasting processes. 
  • Support the assessment and communication of financial risks and opportunities. 
  • Ensure adherence to financial internal controls and procedures. 

Team leadership:  

  • Manage, mentor, and develop the FP&A accountant to build a strong and effective function. 

Ad hoc: 

  • Support the CFO with ad hoc tasks as required. 

Essential Qualifications, knowledge, experience and skills:   

Qualifications:    

  • Recognised professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA).   

Knowledge:    

  • Strong understanding of financial planning, forecasting, and analysis in a multi-entity setting 
  • Familiarity with IFRS standards.  

Experience:    

  • Post-qualification experience in financial planning, analysis, or business partnering. 
  • Proven ability to develop expenditure forecasts, budgets, and scenario models in a multi-currency environment. 
  • Track record of working with senior stakeholders to provide financial insight and challenge. 

Skills:   

  • High accuracy and attention to detail.   
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.   
  • Strong organisational and multitasking abilities.   
  • Proficiency in financial analysis tools and advanced MS Excel skills.   
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking abilities.   
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, ability to build relationships across all levels. 
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.   
  • Commitment to the organisation’s mission and values, especially in the not-for-profit sector.   

Preferred:   

  • Experience working in an international environment.   
  • Experience working for a not-for-profit organisation.   
  • Experience working with Business Central and Salesforce.
