Nanofabrication Production Technician

Genève, Geneva, Switzerland

ID Quantique (IDQ) as part of IONQ, is a global leader in quantum-safe communications and quantum detection systems. We provide solutions to protect governments, telecommunication infrastructures, and banking & financial institutions from the “harvest-now, decrypt-later” threat, delivering both terrestrial and space-based quantum-safe networks in live operation globally. Our Quantum Detection Systems push the limits of single-photon detection, powering breakthroughs in quantum communication, sensing, computing, and ultra-sensitive imaging in partnership with top researchers and tech innovators worldwide.

What to expect

We are looking for a Nano-fabrication Production Technician (m/f/d) to join our SNSPD Nano-fabrication Production team at EPFL in Lausanne, Switzerland. As part of a collaborative, cross-functional team, you will help IonQ build the world's leading quantum computing platforms capable of solving some of the world's most complex problems.

Working within EPFL's Centre of MicroNanoTechnology (CMi) cleanroom facilities, you will support the fabrication of high-performance superconducting nanowire single-photon detectors (SNSPDs), following established processes while maintaining the highest standards of quality, precision and safety. You'll also work closely with engineers and researchers to support process development, continuous improvement and efficient production.

What you'll be doing

Working alongside the Nano-fabrication Production Team Leader, you will execute nano-fabrication processes within EPFL's CMi cleanroom facilities to manufacture advanced SNSPD devices. You will be responsible for carrying out fabrication activities in accordance with established procedures, supporting quality control, maintaining accurate production records and contributing to process optimisation. Success in this role requires a positive, detail-oriented and results-driven approach, with a strong focus on collaboration across production and R&D teams.

What you'll bring

Joining our production team, you will play a key role in manufacturing advanced quantum devices within a state-of-the-art cleanroom environment. You will carry out nano-fabrication processes including lithography, deposition, etching and cleaning while adhering to established procedures and CMi safety regulations. Working closely with the Team Leader, engineers and researchers, you will contribute to continuous process improvement, support troubleshooting and root-cause analysis, maintain accurate production documentation, participate in quality control activities and help optimise fabrication processes to deliver the highest standards of quality and production performance.

Key responsibilities

  • Perform nano-fabrication processes in a cleanroom environment, including lithography, deposition, etching and cleaning, while following established procedures and CMi safety regulations.
  • Maintain accurate production records, support quality control activities, and assist with troubleshooting, root-cause analysis and continuous process improvement.
  • Collaborate with the Nano-fabrication Production Team Leader, engineers and researchers to optimise fabrication processes and support efficient, high-quality production.

You'll be a great fit with

  • Bachelor's degree in Microsystems, Applied Physics, Microengineering, Materials Science or a related discipline.
  • 2-5 years previous experience or training in micro or nano-fabrication within a cleanroom environment.
  • Familiarity with cleanroom processes and techniques such as optical lithography, electron-beam lithography, thin-film deposition, plasma etching or metrology.
  • A diligent, precise and self-motivated approach, with the ability to follow detailed procedures and work independently.
  • A strong interest in photonics, quantum technologies or advanced fabrication processes.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills in English.

What We Offer

· A role at one of the fastest growing and most exciting Quantum companies in the world.

· A competitive compensation scheme, benefits package and equity plan. All designed to reward excellence.

· Flexible work models that let you balance your life, your family, and your career.

· Ongoing training and development to keep your skills sharp and your growth on track.

· A career development plan within the IonQ group’s companies
