Module Architect (.NET) - Control Plane Core

Genève, Geneva, Switzerland

ID Quantique (IDQ) as part of IONQ, is a global leader in quantum-safe communications and quantum detection systems. We provide solutions to protect governments, telecommunication infrastructures, and banking & financial institutions from the “harvest-now, decrypt-later” threat, delivering both terrestrial and space-based quantum-safe networks in live operation globally. Our Quantum Detection Systems push the limits of single-photon detection, powering breakthroughs in quantum communication, sensing, computing, and ultra-sensitive imaging in partnership with top researchers and tech innovators worldwide.

What to expect

We are seeking a Module Architect (.NET) – Control Plane Core to design and build modular, secure .NET components for the quantum network Control Plane. This layer orchestrates, manages, and monitors quantum devices handling onboarding, configuration, operational workflows, and providing visibility through stable, extensible APIs.

What you'll be doing

  • Own the module architecture for core control plane services (REST APIs, orchestration, configuration), with explicit boundaries to data services, key-management services, and identity/access layers.
  • Develop and maintain production .NET code in the Control Plane solution: implement core modules, contribute to shared libraries, review pull requests, and troubleshoot issues across environments.
  • Define plugin entry points and extension points for business domains (for example: quantum key distribution, key management, and network management), with versioned contracts and a clear compatibility strategy.
  • Drive security-by-design (OpenID Connect, role-based access control, mutual TLS, certificate lifecycle, and crypto agility including post-quantum readiness), aligned with centralized identity, authentication, and authorization patterns (for example: Keycloak).
  • Establish architectural runways: reference implementations, coding standards, API governance (OpenAPI/Swagger), and secure development/quality gates (testing, code review, and security checks in CI/CD).
  • Partner with the centralized orchestration services team (sometimes referred to as the Central Server) and the device team to keep end-to-end workflows consistent; standardize telemetry with OpenTelemetry and ensure reliable device-to-platform messaging (for example: MQTT).

What you'll bring

  • 10+ years in .NET (ASP.NET Core, C#), including architect roles on distributed systems.
  • Proven record designing plugin/extensibility frameworks and stable API contracts.
  • Strong security background (OIDC/OAuth2, mTLS, cert lifecycle, RBAC, zero-trust architecture).

You'll be a great fit with

  • Post-quantum cryptography (PQC) and crypto-agility exposure; regulated/telecom or high-security environments.
  • Experience with policy-based authorization (for example: Open Policy Agent), multi-tenant controls, and observability/telemetry with OpenTelemetry.
  • SDN and network management standards exposure (for example: NETCONF/YANG); familiarity with PKI concepts and operations.
  • Familiarity with ETSI standards related to quantum key distribution and key-management interfaces is a plus.
  • Knowledge of quantum networking and device-management interfaces is desirable.

What We Offer

· A role at one of the fastest growing and most exciting Quantum companies in the world.

· A competitive compensation scheme, benefits package and equity plan. All designed to reward excellence.

· Flexible work models that let you balance your life, your family, and your career.

· Ongoing training and development to keep your skills sharp and your growth on track.

· A career development plan within the IonQ group’s companies

· A dynamic, close-knit environment where you collaborate with a global team of experts.

· A performance-driven culture built on trust, teamwork, and shared ambition.
