Security Certification Specialist

Genève, Geneva, Switzerland

ID Quantique (IDQ) as part of IONQ, is a global leader in quantum-safe communications and quantum detection systems. We provide solutions to protect governments, telecommunication infrastructures, and banking & financial institutions from the “harvest-now, decrypt-later” threat, delivering both terrestrial and space-based quantum-safe networks in live operation globally. Our Quantum Detection Systems push the limits of single-photon detection, powering breakthroughs in quantum communication, sensing, computing, and ultra-sensitive imaging in partnership with top researchers and tech innovators worldwide.

What to expect

We are seeking a Security Certification Specialist to join the Science Department at ID Quantique. In this position, you will lead and coordinate security certification efforts across multiple frameworks, ensuring that IDQ’s QKD systems comply with the assurance requirements of Common Criteria and regional certification schemes. You will support the team’s mission to achieve and maintain certification for both current and next-generation QKD systems, develop reusable security evidence, and integrate certification requirements throughout the product lifecycle.

In this role, you will also contribute to the development of security architecture documentation, evaluation evidence, internal testing processes, and certification workflows—playing a key part in advancing our work on some of the world’s most sophisticated quantum technologies.

What you'll be doing

We are seeking a Security Certification Specialist to support the delivery of our certification function, ensuring the successful achievement of multi-framework security certifications and the integration of security-by-design principles across our product lifecycle. In this role, you will develop Security Targets, conduct gap analyses, prepare evaluation evidence, and produce certification-grade documentation. You will work closely with Engineering and R&D teams to identify required system modifications and coordinate remediation activities, while ensuring consistency and traceability between architecture, implementation, and declared security claims.

You will also manage relationships with external evaluation laboratories across Europe, Japan, and other regions, respond to evaluation findings, and contribute to the development of internal pre-evaluation capabilities, including methodologies, tooling, and processes. This position offers the opportunity to play a key role in delivering the first global QKD certifications, shaping next-generation Common Criteria-based architectures, and strengthening in-house evaluation expertise—directly supporting our global market access strategy and collaboration across technical, product, and commercial teams.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading security certification activities across multiple frameworks (including Common Criteria, EUCC, Japan EAL2, and FIPS), and developing, drafting, and maintaining Security Targets for IDQ products
  • Conducting gap analyses, identifying required system changes, and coordinating remediation with Engineering and R&D teams
  • Preparing and maintaining certification evidence, including architecture documentation, vulnerability analysis, lifecycle artefacts, and configuration management documentation, while ensuring full traceability and consistency
  • Managing and coordinating external evaluation laboratories, responding to evaluation feedback, and maintaining high-quality certification documentation and evidence packages
  • Supporting cross-functional collaboration, monitoring international scheme developments and their impact, contributing to secure development practices and internal training, and assisting market teams with certification claims, compliance materials, and customer-facing positioning

What you'll bring

To be successful, you will need solid experience with security certification frameworks, particularly Common Criteria, as well as strong foundations in quantum key distribution and key management systems (KMS). Familiarity with QKD attacks and countermeasures, security architecture, and photonicsbased system components is strongly desired. We’re looking for someone who can interpret technical designs, prepare certification evidence, work closely with engineering and evaluation labs, and manage certification activities endtoend, and contribute effectively within a fast moving, highly technical team.

You'll be a great fit with

We are looking for a Security Certification Specialist with proven experience in Common Criteria evaluations (EAL2–EAL4+ preferred) and FIPS, and a strong track record in developing or supporting Security Targets and high-assurance documentation. You will bring a solid technical understanding of QKD systems, key management system architectures, photonics components, and cybersecurity principles, alongside knowledge of QKD attack vectors and countermeasures and how these translate into certification requirements.

You will be comfortable working across international frameworks including EUCC, the Cyber Resilient Act, ISO 15408/18045, CCRA, and FIPS 140-3, and experienced in collaborating with evaluation laboratories and certification authorities. With the ability to translate complex system designs into structured certification evidence, you will also have experience in secure development lifecycles, configuration management, and vulnerability handling, combined with excellent communication skills and a structured, rigorous, and proactive approach to security assurance.

  • Strong expertise in Common Criteria and FIPS evaluations, Security Target development, certification frameworks, and collaboration with evaluation bodies, supported by the ability to produce clear, high-quality certification evidence from complex system designs
  • In-depth technical knowledge of QKD and cybersecurity domains, combined with experience in secure development practices, vulnerability management, and a disciplined, proactive approach to documentation and stakeholder communication
