HUMAN RESOURCES MANAGER

The Human Resources Manager is responsible for delivering the full HR operational and functional agenda for the assigned business unit/portfolio. The role ensures effective people management practices, strong governance, and alignment of HR initiatives with business objectives, while maintaining compliance with all relevant legislation, internal policies, and organisational standards.

This role reports directly to the Head of HR and operates under their direction, ensuring alignment to the overall HR strategy, frameworks, and priorities of the organisation.

The role also supports the development of a high-performance culture, employee engagement, and consistent delivery of HR services across the employee lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

  1. HR Operations and Service Delivery
  • Lead the day-to-day operations of the HR function within the assigned business unit/area.
  • Ensure consistent delivery of HR services in line with organisational standards, policies, and agreed service levels.
  • Oversee timely and effective resolution of employee and management queries.

 

  1. HR Strategy and Execution (Under Head of HR Direction)
  • Implement HR plans and initiatives in line with direction received from the Head of HR.
  • Translate organisational HR strategy into practical execution within the assigned business area.
  • Support workforce planning and organisational effectiveness initiatives as guided by HR leadership.

 

  1. Employee Lifecycle Management
  • Partner with line management across the full employee lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, development, and exits.
  • Support consistent application of performance management frameworks to enable a performance-driven culture.
  • Drive employee engagement, development, and retention initiatives within the business unit.

 

  1. Stakeholder Management and Business Partnership
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with internal stakeholders and business leaders.
  • Act as a key HR point of contact for the business unit, providing guidance on operational HR matters.
  • Collaborate with external providers where required to support service delivery.

 

  1. Performance, Reporting and Budget Support
  • Work with management to review workforce and performance outcomes.
  • Support HR reporting and data analysis to enable informed decision-making.
  • Assist with the administration and monitoring of HR budgets and training plans where applicable.

 

  1. Compliance, Governance and Risk Management
  • Ensure adherence to all applicable labour legislation, internal policies, and HR governance standards.
  • Maintain accurate and audit-ready HR records and documentation.
  • Identify and escalate HR-related risks to the Head of HR, ensuring appropriate corrective actions are taken.
  • Support internal and external audit requirements as directed.

 

Qualifications and Experience

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Human Resources, Industrial Psychology, or related field.
  • Proven experience in an HR generalist or HR management role.
  • Strong knowledge of employment legislation and HR best practices.
  • Experience working in a structured, fast-paced business environment.
