The Role
We are opening this position to support the continued growth of our Back Office team in Brussels. As our transaction volumes expand across Europe, we're looking for a rigorous, curious, and operationally-minded profile to join us and contribute to both our daily operations and our continuous improvement agenda.
Manager & Team
You will report to Marc Lippler, Head of Back Office — with iBanFirst for 6 years.
You'll be joining a small team based in our Brussels office (Avenue Louise, Ixelles), embedded in an international office of 25 people. You'll work closely with Finance, Compliance, Technology, and banking partners across Europe.
What will you do?
Our Back Office is the operational backbone of iBanFirst — responsible for the accurate processing, reconciliation, and control of all client transactions. As a Junior Back Office Analyst , you'll be hands-on from day one: processing payments, ensuring controls are met, troubleshooting issues, and contributing to the projects that will shape how we work tomorrow.
Task breakdown:
- 80% — Daily production & processing: Executing and controlling payment flows, FX settlements, and reconciliation
- 20% — Control & projects: Contributing to process improvement, automation, and data-driven monitoring
Key responsibilities:
Production:
- Execute and validate domestic and cross-border payments (SWIFT, SEPA, TARGET2, FPS, etc.) within SLAs and in line with client instructions
- Monitor and settle FX trades with our liquidity providers
- Perform daily cash reconciliation controls to guarantee proper safeguarding of client funds, in compliance with regulatory requirements
- Handle payment troubleshooting by communicating with banking partners via SWIFT and other channels
- Support the Front Office with operational expertise on payment issues
- Work closely with Finance, Compliance, Technology, and banking partners
Projects:
- Contribute to automation initiatives to streamline workflows and reduce manual workload
- Leverage data analytics to improve monitoring and strengthen controls
- Participate in building the most robust and scalable payment & FX platform on the market
- Bring ideas to improve existing processes — you're encouraged to be a force for proposals
Role Objectives
First 3 months:
- Get fully up to speed on our payment flows, tools, and internal processes
- Execute daily production tasks autonomously
- Understand the regulatory environment and why controls matter
First 6 months:
- Be a reliable, autonomous contributor to the team's daily operations
- Start identifying process improvement opportunities
- Contribute to at least one project or automation initiative
First 12 months:
- Have a measurable impact on at least one process or control improvement
- Be a trusted member of the team, with growing scope and responsibilities
- Understand the full Back Office ecosystem and its interactions with other functions
What do you bring?
Experience:
- A curious, driven, and detail-oriented profile with a genuine eagerness to learn and grow is more important to us than a specific background
- A previous experience in Back Office, reconciliation, operations, or financial services is a plus
- Knowledge of payment schemes (SWIFT, SEPA…) is equally a plus

Must-have skills:
- Hands-on and operational — you like rolling up your sleeves and getting things done
- Rigorous and structured — strong eye for detail, methodical in your approach

- Data-driven — you're comfortable with numbers and interested in using data to improve how things work

- Fluent in English (working language); French and/or Dutch is a plus
- Brussels-based or willing to commute — 4 days a week in the office is expected
Nice to have:
- Knowledge of SWIFT formats or payment schemes (SEPA, TARGET2, FPS…)
- Familiarity with data tools (SQL, Power BI, Metabase)
- Interest in automation and process improvement

Compensation & Benefits:
- Base salary: ~€38,000 to 45,000 gross annual
- 13th month + 92% of June salary (double holiday pay)
