As a Manager, Total Rewards you can expect to...

  • Own the strategy, design, competitiveness, and compliance of HSO’s compensation, benefits, payroll, and total rewards programs, ensuring alignment with business goals and organizational growth.
  • Conduct market benchmarking, internal equity analyses, and compensation modeling to inform pay structures, incentive programs, and benefits offerings that support retention and performance.
  • Lead annual compensation review cycles and Variable Compensation Plan (VCP) administration while providing compensation insights and recommendations to leadership.
  • Direct the strategy and administration of HSO’s self-funded health plans, including vendor and carrier relationships, contract negotiations, renewals, and open enrollment planning.
  • Monitor and interpret evolving regulatory requirements, including pay transparency laws, ERISA, ACA, FMLA, and related employment regulations, translating requirements into effective policies and processes.
  • Lead pay equity assessments and FLSA classification reviews to support compliance, consistency, and fair employment practices.
  • Oversee end-to-end payroll operations for a 400+ employee remote workforce, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Manage benefits administration activities including enrollments, status changes, terminations, carrier updates, ACA reporting, 401(k) audit documentation, and expense reimbursement reconciliation.
  • Serve as a trusted resource for employee payroll and benefits inquiries, delivering responsive support and a positive employee experience.
  • Build and scale HSO’s total rewards function by defining, hiring, and onboarding a Payroll & Benefits Coordinator, then transitioning operational responsibilities while retaining strategic leadership and oversight.

  • Analyzing compensation data, market trends, and internal equity considerations to make informed recommendations.
  • Building trusted relationships and partnering effectively with leaders, employees, vendors, and external providers.
  • Navigating complex compliance requirements and translating regulatory guidance into practical business processes.
  • Managing multiple priorities while maintaining exceptional accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Leading through change and building scalable programs, processes, and teams from the ground up.
  • Communicating complex compensation, payroll, and benefits concepts in a clear and approachable manner.

Sound interesting? If so, you’ll have...

  • 7–10 years of progressive experience in compensation, benefits, payroll, total rewards, or a related discipline.
  • Hands-on experience managing payroll operations, including multi-state payroll tax compliance.
  • Experience leading compensation programs, annual review cycles, benchmarking initiatives, and total rewards strategy development.
  • Strong knowledge of ERISA, ACA, FMLA, pay transparency requirements, and related employment regulations.
  • Experience managing benefits administration, carrier relationships, vendor negotiations, and health plan strategies.
  • Proficiency with payroll systems such as ADP or Paylocity and HRIS platforms.
  • Experience with BambooHR, strongly preferred.
  • CPP, CEBS, SHRM-SCP, SPHR, or related professional certification is a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate effectively in both strategic leadership and hands-on execution roles.
